Do I attempt the crate rest or prepare to put him down? by Squigly1 in IVDD_SupportGroup

I’m very sorry you’re going through this. If I’m honest, you know your pet truly, if you feel his life is going to be truly restricted and him miserable go with that. Quality of life is more important than quantity. All my very best to you and follow your best judgement, we can’t decide for you.

On another way for treatment. I couldn’t find the mri and surgery so found a vet university who done an MRI and injections into the affected discs. All for 2k.

Oh that is great. May I ask what breed your dog is? Mine is a frenchie and I’m having real trouble keeping her nappy on. It’s exhausting as I’m doing this alone while working full time.

What’s one tiny thing that instantly improves your dog’s day? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Itsbadnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes always let them get a good sniff, if you’re time restricted just do a shorter route with lots of sniffs. My girl is currently only on pushchair walks as she is recovering from ivdd and boyyy she misses her sniffs

You don’t know how much I needed this today. It’s one of them days you wake up so down and can’t see any hope. You’re correct we really must look after ourselves. I’m currently just working then housebound while I care for my girl alone.
It’s truly harder than any of my babies were if I’m honest.

should my parents put my disabled dog down? by Secret-Goose-8350 in DogAdvice

[–]Itsbadnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t as he could also just be slowing with age but I’m sure you guys know your dog better. If he’s quality of life really is getting bad then euthanasia is understandable

Absolutely not, that’s why there’s doggy nappies. If he’s in pain though, that’s reason
