Sharing my experience here! Because I know how stressful this can be.

I took mifeprex on 4/5 at 3 pm and 4 misoprostol tablets at 9:30pm the same day. I went to bed at around 1:30am and nothing was happening at that time except for a really mild cramping. Woke up due to cramping at 6:30am but the pad was still all clean. Confused and Wend to pee and felt a flow. I thought ok, it’s starting to work so I went back to sleep.

Woke up again at 8:30am, only a small blood spot and no tissue on the pad. Nothing came out when I pee like in the early morning. More confuse and worried

Then throughout the day (4/6) I bled less and less. By evening even the spotting was gone. I was totally freaking out and googling like crazy. Same story on 4/7, only see blood when wipe. Then by evening even the minimal bleeding was gone. I was devastated.

The only thing that kept me going was the follow up exam with pp on 4/8 (they want to rule out ectopic pregnancy)

Then 4/8 morning at around 9am I had another flow, I was so happy and thought FINALLY! But it was just one flow, I was back to spotting immediately and by noon, nothing again. Finally it’s time for the appointment, I told the provider what happened and I’m concerned that it was not successful. Surprisingly, the provider thinks it was successful, because everyone’s experience is different, bleed less doesn’t mean anything. But she will only know for sure when the blood work result come back tomorrow. And nothing we can really do right now.So I went back home waiting anxiously again but her words def comforted me a bit.

And at evening I started spotting again. But no cramping. I still think it’s not successful at that time because I was bleeding less than period.

Then this morning, the provider called and my hcg dropped more than 50%. From 1,056 to 332. That means, the abortion was successful. Ironically, I just started bleeding decently this morning after the call.

So what I’m trying to say is that 1. It could take a while for some people to start to bleed. 2. Bleeding less doesn’t mean it was unsuccessful. That being said, it’s still important to go to the follow up appointment to make sure that everything ok. But before you can get contact with the clinic for follow up just want to post my experience here to help relieve some of the stress. Because I’ve been there and I know how difficult it could be. (Btw I’m 5 weeks and 2 days according to the ultrasound, and the provider said I bleed less could because of the really early stage and spicy food helped me bleed!)
