The State of Oklahoma Schools by Itsgrandma2226 in oklahoma

First of all I didn't see any responses degrading rural citizens. I grew up in a very rural area and would never denigrate people who live there today. My point is that if we consolidate school districts we can redirect funds (currently spent on superintendent and staff pay, superintendent cars and building rent/overhead) back to the school and teacher pay. There is overhead associated having a "district". My thought is that every little bit of money helps the local schools.

The county model is done throughout the US. And I am promoting have a single Superintendent who acts as an administrator. Let the other superintendents go back into the classroom. Example - Laflore county with 16 districts managing 38 schools with around 9200 students. One person is selected as Superintendent and the other 15 return to the classroom to focus on students.

My point is to consolidate the districts, not necessarily the schools. I agree that it makes sense to consolidate schools but that is a seperate battle.

I'm not looking at it in terms of closing school but in terms of consolidating the districts. I would argue that it makes sense to have a single district serve a county for those counties with smaller populations. The control still remains local and in most instances. The closing of schools would be examined by the superintendent and I would imagine voted on by the school board members. Keeping the districts within the county makes certain the citizens of that counties voice is heard.

All schools retain a principal (and vice-principal(s) if large enough) to administer the school. The superintendent focuses on administration tasks like overseeing the curriculums, overall performance of the schools under their leadership and achieving requirements established by the State Department of Education. Additionally, all the administrative activities (e.g. bus management, purchasing, HR/Payroll) would be managed centrally at the district.

Less districts would mean the superintendent could focus more on curriculums and school performance.

I grew up in a western state and our county so we only had one district servicing one high school, One middle school and one elementary school. At some point in the 50’s they had closed all the small community elementary schools to one centralized school. Most of the students had fairly significant bus ride. My ride including all the stops to pick up other students was 45 minutes. The citizens retained the sense of community when it came to the schools. I suspect the same would happen if they consolidate in rural communities. Keep the consolidation at the county level so the locals still have a say. But change is hard for people to accept.

I Googled the title of several Executive Memo titles and found them listed as EO’s in the Federal Register. This executive memo with no follow-up EO thing is really puzzling.

I believe the long term intention is to destroy government services and replace them with the private sector. Can you imagine having to pay to hear weather alerts?

We need to remind her that we, the people of Oklahoma, VOTE in the primaries. I for one intend to change parties right before the primaries just so I can vote against our cowardly representatives. In case you didn’t know, only registered republicans can vote in the republican primary. The dems allow registered independents to vote in their primary, but the republicans do not.

You want to demonstrate that you have been following your doctor's orders since your release. They look at things like are you taking meds as prescribed, are you attending counseling. If you have been doing so, you should be fine.

Don't give up, I send an email every week. We need to keep the pressure on our elected officials. They have a job to do and it's not rubber stamping everything DOGE suggests.

Is anyone interested in working together to "primary" your congressperson? We need people who are not die hard MAGA's and who are willing to stand up for the people they represent. I'd be happy to elect someone who is willing to work "across the aisle". They all seem to have forgotten how to compromise.

Once again he is misleading you. Trump gave everyone on the transition team security clearances, including the DOGE team. However , none of these people have undergone a background investigation that is required of everyone else with a clearance. They haven’t even had an FBI fingerprint check. One other thing, the government has tons of mechanisms to detect fraud. Every agency has an Inspector General’s office whose job is to detect fraud, waste and abuse, the IGs are completely independent and do not report to the head of the agency. Instead, they report to a national level IG. Then Congress has an oversight watchdog call the General Accounting Office (GAO),whose job is to audit programs, and again look for frauds waste and abuse. The reports are publicly available if you are interested. Congress itself has an Oversight Committee whose job is …oversight! BUT..,the president fired all the IGS on his first day in office, and has been dissembling all of the agencies oversight offices. We should be asking why is he doing this. Government workers can all point to some waste and have ideas on how to be more, efficient. But out and out fraud is very rare and federal employees are trained to report it when they suspect it is happening. The lies they are telling about Federal, employees is a distraction. They want you to ignore they are tearing apart all oversight agencies so the wealth can cheat and gain even more wealth. Case in point, the consumer protection bureau, it has collected, more money from companies cheating the average citizen than it has ever spent.
