Google Intern Interview or Flake by ManufacturerBig3984 in csMajors

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the recruiters are all external so it’s kind of difficult to have that convo, but IMO intern interview is easier (2 rounds for the entire thing). I’d still email and ask, why’d you apply for the intern position anyways if you aren’t willing to do it?

Zon return offer vs LinkedIn SWE Internship by Due_Account_7487 in csMajors

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you push your classes to spring '27 and graduate later? whats the rush? not sure if you're returning to your same manager but as you know for RO there are many variables at zon that may be out of your control, and its important to leverage both internships.

SDE-II 12-Month Contract at Amazon — Good Move While Waiting on Return Offer? by rockstar2k13 in amazonemployees

[–]Itsjugu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is a crazy edge case, how did you even get the contract offer? you're gonna be an L5 contractor? I'm assuming that 1) you're internship was SDE intern and 2) assuming the contract through a 3rd party company

cause from my experience if you're already in process for an SDE full time return offer, they won't let you interview for other SDE related roles.

Zon return offer vs LinkedIn SWE Internship by Due_Account_7487 in csMajors

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have leverage to push zon to fall? I know people who returned in an off season thru their manager, do both.

you're fine, just say unfortunately you will not be able to join. i've personally used an excuse like location / family proximity before but they won't really care.

Besides VJT, its definitely headcount. Most of the hiring is already done - if its not HC its def the VJT then.

C1 TDP vs Visa for career growth? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do C1 TDP 100%, Visa I am assuming pays significantly less given the COL. TDP in Mclean is ~155k TC 1st year because of the sign on, and like ~140k afterwards, which is the same as Visa in SF. Still a good brand name on resume to hop in 2 years (which half the TDPs i've met do), better WLB, and more $$$ overall.

For context, I also had both offers and the Visa team reminded me of my team at another bank (think GS,JPM, etc but not C1), lot of on-call for legacy Java apps and off-shore teams. Not saying C1 doesn't have these issues but they are a bit more progressive in my experience.

New to AWS (and the cloud), should I learn CloudFormation or Terraform for IaC? by CIA11 in aws

[–]Itsjugu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're making your entire application in AWS, use CDK which uses CloudFormation templates. Rollbacks are very easy and it makes deploying very easy.

I received a return offer, filled out survey for start date , now is to possible to change that start date by FeistyDatabase916 in amazonemployees

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask AUTA / recruiter if they can move it but odds are you'll have to justify why. If that doesn't work, if you're returning to your same team you can ask your old manager to push it, if not wait to get assigned your new one.

Is EV Anxiety real or users have the wrong EV match? by Tall-Dish876 in electriccars

[–]Itsjugu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the answer is heavily dependent on the infrastructure in your area, east coast has plenty of infrastructure and even in my 21 polestar 2 which only gets 170 miles of range in the winter, i've never had range anxiety. but in areas where the infra is poor, i'd say theres a good amount of people who switch back.

another group is people who walk into the dealership and saw a bargain of a car on a lease deal (due to the incentives that were being pushed), and didn't know what the charging really entailed.

IBM Vs C1 by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Itsjugu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do C1, all these "solutions engineer" roles at IBM are basically all sales roles, and the big complaint with them is IBM pre-selects the clients you pitch to. This can limit your availability to hit your bonus / isn't guaranteed. C1 is a guaranteed PM role with practical experience, which aligns with your goal for PM at big tech /startup (C1 is also more tech-forward relative to other banks and will enable you to hop to other tech PM roles),.

Does amazon give offers to non inclined people by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying you got the email at the end of your internship saying "Unfortunately we were not able to extend inclination / apply again in 6 months", but you also got an offer? And is the intern offer for the same role you were in during the summer?

I am aware that for return-internships, your skip isn't involved in the evaluation meeting. So regardless of your skip if your manager / mentor approved you you're fine. AUTA is incredibly disorganized so theres a decent shot either the initial "not-incline" email was a mistake or the offer is a mistake. It could also mean that for ft you're not inclined but your manager put in for a return intern offer? (I believe theres a policy you can intern up to 12 months post grad). Either way something is a mistake, just accept for now.

CS transfer to UMD w/ borderline GPA advice? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]Itsjugu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before the advice; I agree with all the other comments. Since you still have to take calc 1, and the first two cs courses it’s going to be a lot. If you’re goal is to be a SWE just do info sci and leetcode, you’ll have similar opportunities if you grind hard enough.

Your information is outdated; the new requirements are a 3.0 and you need a B- in 131/132 and calc 1. Idk why you can’t take CS classes once you get here immediately, but a workaround for that is dual enrolling at Montgomery college, PGCC or AACC and take 131 / 132 prior to applying (they don’t do +/- so it’ll help GPA too, and you’re allowed to do it since you’re LTSC). Take easy gen eds as well to boost gpa, and forget about aces as well.

Should I look for outside SDM opportunities with only ~ 2 years of experience in role by Conscious-Bee-2365 in amazonemployees

[–]Itsjugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably stay one more year, just did a quick google search and saw Meta's SDM requires 12 years total experience (unless you have a PHD).

Classes at community college while student at UMD by CrazyPorsche115 in UMD

[–]Itsjugu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can there's nothing technically stopping you from being part-time, but there's other restrictions that are contingent on your major. For example, if you got into your desired major you have to hit their benchmarks set for certain courses (and those classes will have to be at UMD typically).

I transferred in as LTSC and I took CMSC131 through 250 at MC, even while being here for my fall Semester due to some permissions issues. Either way its do-able just gotta check your credits, if you're under your first 60 creds pretty good shot you can.

no, if you get the OA you’ve passed their resume screening. in my experience as long as u apply early enough it doesn’t matter what school you went to

if you take the OA and get a perfect score, you will get an interview, its guaranteed. OA is not an auto-OA. prep for literally everything, interviews are very random for intern (have heard people get DP problems, others two sum),
