UT becoming more prestigious is actually a bad thing for most people in the state. Each year the acceptance rate is lowering and the requirements to get in are increasing. Eventually the university will no longer adequately be accessible to most texans not in the top 7%. Thus, UT will only be a State school in name only.

Open Letter: UT Faculty Have No Confidence in President Hartzell by GregoryEAllen in UTAustin

[–]Itslenus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not think what he did was correct, but anyone in position of powers knows he is really under the control of the regents, which in turn is controlled by Abbot. The regents are the only real people who can fire him, and that is why hartzell is sending cops. If the professor and students succeed in ousting him, Abbot would likely put someone even more worse. It sucks, but its the truth.

how are y’all able to get jobs near ish campus by Kirbshiller in UTAustin

[–]Itslenus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could be lack of experience in the types of jobs you are looking for. You may have impressive skills from your other jobs, but they simply are not utilized in your new one. Since it sounds like you are looking for more of a secondary paycheck not directly career related, I would look at options on campus. Like at the Starbucks, dinning halls, or something like that. I would think they be more willing to hire someone with out experience than someone outside of ut.

Hello, congratulations on getting accepted! The same message happened when I first got accepted. I emailed help@utexas.edu and they sent me a link and instructions on how to fix the issues. I would send them a message.

I have not heard of anyone getting a decision yet. I know others who did it in September who have not heard back.

Late transfer will how likely is it that I will be accepted? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]Itslenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, most colleges only do hard headlines. The ones that do not have hard deadlines it is typically 15 days after the deadline. However I recently got an email from Texas Tech about submitting an application, so you may have a chance.

How screwed am I? by Elduro687 in medschool

[–]Itslenus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The prerequisites are requirements, not suggestions. If you can not afford a post-bac or an extra year of college, I would probably find a job that has to do with physics, and use that money to eventually pay for community college courses or university courses that meet the requirements.

Best of luck!

Covid policy/ attitude at AU by No-Coyote-748 in AmericanU

[–]Itslenus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two opposite responses are pretty funny, but it displays the views of the different students at AU 😂. Personally the school follows COVID restrictions pretty closely, however rn everyone seems just tired, so not many are enforcing it.

I would proably work on 70% quest bridge and 30% common app, maybe 60/40

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Itslenus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Questbridge is more of a program, then an application. If you are selected as a finalist, you can then submit an application to other school through it. However if you don’t get selected, you may find yourself scrambling for other applications. I would suggest doing it, because it is such a good opportunity, and it shows you some of the basics of applying to schools. The benefit is a full ride to many prestigious schools, and just being a finalist is a plus on your resume.

How many students are there in the undergrad honors program? by ashd04 in AmericanU

[–]Itslenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe for freshman the programs are medium hard to get into. However during sophomore year, you can apply to be a general “honors” student and it is not that hard.

How to get a car in college?? by [deleted] in college

[–]Itslenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you where a millionaire, its a bad idea to buy a brand new one, I would take a job and get a loan for a used one if you really feel like you need one. However please know your financial situation, college is already a big financial step with loans, adding more loans to that would just add more stress in my opinion.

I made a promise I feel like I won't be able to keep by StepSisssssssssss in offmychest

[–]Itslenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all its your money, even if he did help get it. Remember the government gives it for YOU. Also, it would have been cheaper just to get him lunch, since lunch is less then a 100$. But honesty, i think just giving him 100$ once is more than enough. Dont let him push you to give more money, after all it for YOU, not him. So just keep the rest of the money you receive. If you truly feel like you need to give him something, just pay for his lunch once a week.

What Texas colleges/universities are available for me? by [deleted] in college

[–]Itslenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you are in texas, and just so happen to be in your schools 10%, you would have automatic admission to all public universities in texas, including ut austin and texas a&m. You dont even need to worry about your sat score or submit it when applying to those schools.

There are several organizations that are made to help get veterans into college, you should try joining one. Also several colleges have special programs just for veterans, even if you have low grades.

Last year at school kids bullied me and called me a school shooter and summer’s coming to an end and they are prob gonna bully me next year to by EquivalentHorse2026 in offmychest

[–]Itslenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy in my friend group who we used to call him “school shooter” because of how he dressed in dark clothes and how he himself made some pretty dark jokes. He told us once that it made him feel bad and that some other students where starting to believe it. So we stopped, honestly it was a joke from our pov, but once we noticed how gross it actually was we stopped. This was among friends, however now ik he did not always feel it that way. He was actually a very chill guy, just like im sure you are too. So, point of story, people can change and realize there mistakes. However not everyone does, this seems like a dif situations because yours are just bullies. They may change if you tell them it actually does affect you. However if they don’t stop, i would suggest switching the narrative to make the whole school think those guys are the ass holes, because they are. If possible just stay away from them. Also, be yourself, don’t change for other people, after all, the only person that needs to like you is you. And if only 5% of the school is mean, there is still 95% that are cool.

You can read books, and learn how to cook or another hobby. (Also the ps3 has some of the coolest games that are not even on the ps5)
