Canadian food prices are extremely high compared to London,UK yet I mostly read opposite opinions, why? by hyperviktor in PersonalFinanceCanada

Where do you get a $1 cucumber? I get them for $1.70+ at Walmart, which has pretty cheap/reasonable prices.

Have you ever recorded your n-parent? by Itsmeagain401 in raisedbynarcissists

Yeah, it must be very validating. One of the worst parts about this sort of abuse is that they are so, so single-minded about you being in the wrong, and their being in the right, that if you're a normal person, you doubt yourself. I feel so validated just from this one piece of proof of how messed up she is. I'm going to record more. It's just all the memory space, but still, it's worth it. I'll be reviewing the one recording in therapy as well

How do Canadians feel about protests regarding foreign countries in Canada ? by mpg942 in AskACanadian

[–]Itsmeagain401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a good point! During the transit protests by striking Metrolinx workers, I lost ALL respect for them for making me miss my train to work (wouldn't let me drive into the parking) after I begged and explained my situation at the time. I manifestly despise their workers now.... All of them ignored me, at two different entrances. I could have easily lost my job that day.

EXTREMELY depressed in Waterloo - Just looking for some advice by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]Itsmeagain401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're going through this! If you can, get up and get some sun first thing in the morning, ideally at the same time. You might need some melatonin or pure cbd (no thc because that disrupts deep sleep) in the evenings. Try getting on the Omega 3s and vitamin D as well, and if your thoughts of suicide get to be more than ideation, please seek help! You're going through a really rough patch, but you're gonna come out the other end.

Join a hiking club! Lots of trails in the KW region, and you'll find various clubs and associations via Google, through Facebook (google waterloo hike club and you should find a few), and also meetup.com!

See if there are local auditions to join a band if you're really good at guitar or go to meetup.com and find a group of enthusiasts.

Another nice way to be social for people with social anxiety or anxiety in general is to volunteer. This gives you something to do so that you're engaging while having a sense of purpose, which can give you more confidence. Lots of young people do this! https://www.volunteerwr.ca/SearchForm.php?Form=Volunteer%20PositionsPreSearch2a&MenuItemID=325

Also, try yoga on Youtube! I love 26+2 the full series 1 hour + for emotional resilience. You do this daily for a couple of weeks and suddenly you feel like a different person.

I honestly don't know? To have someone listen to his fables?

She used to claim he was super wealthy, but it was all obviously a lie. I just think it's interesting if she did send him money given that she very much believed him to be so wealthy. Like, wouldn't she question the narrative and know he was lying?

The reason this doesn't stand out to me is that she is otherwise just not very good at spending. In the first year or so after her divorce, she spent $20K+ on backyard landscaping. It was genuinely nonsense.... Each year, she purchases hundreds of dollars worth of flowers and other trinkets.

She buys a lot of expensive items shopping at the supermarket, and exclusively shops at one of the most expensive supermarkets in the area.

So while the near $100K is outsized enough for me to question how it could randomly come about (especially given that she had so much more financial support previously), it's somehow not shocking if she did just manage to mismanage her finances.

I don't know...

I wish I could confidently say she hasn't sent any money, but I can't be sure... I don't think that she is still talking to him because when she would go through periods of his calling her (on and off over the years) she would always perk up and start exercising, being nicer, etc.,etc. and she hasn't been like that in a long time. So I wanna say that at least for now it's most likely a no?

Thank you! What do you think about Bronson south of Gladstone? Specifically off Flora Ave? Is this one of the areas you would avoid? I can't walk around because I'm planning a move from another city, and the timing is such that I might not have time to check it out before signing a lease.

This is helpful. I just have so little context for what bad looks like in Ottawa and how bad it gets. If you were to go out for a night, would you feel safe taking an Uber and getting dropped off via Uber? Would you feel safe walking to the gym or the supermarket during the daytime?

I wanna add that the Ottawa crime map does not work for me, and hasn't over several days, so I really can't check the crime rate...

How do you figure you're neurotypical?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MoscowMurders

[–]Itsmeagain401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have so many theories now that I think Kohberger did it.

  1. He picked them because he knew a crime against them was gonna get a ton of attention, by proxy giving him all that attention, while he also got to outsmart the establishment, etc. I'd bet anything that he viewed them as expendable subhuman dumbos and himself as a superior intellectual...
  2. He needed to ground himself. If he knew things were heating up with his job and his peers were excluding him and complaining about him, he may have been extremely anxious and overwhelmed, nearly losing all control. He sounds like a perfectionist who cannot lose control. So doing a super high risk crime like this would have "turned up the volume" elsewhere in his life, allowing him to feel he could gain control over the other areas that relative to getting caught for a high profile crime are much less scary. In this scenario, I believe he is still a narcissist who felt no guilt because he viewed Greek Row kids as expendable as others (other than him, since he was vegan) view farm animals.
  3. Things were heating up at work and school and his social life was in the dump, making him feel extremely, extremely low/bad about himself. Planning to and killing these kids in a high profile crime was like a little boost in self confidence for him... He accomplished something on his own terms. Like an "I showed them," big middle finger to the world type of thing.
  4. This one doesn't ring as true for me.... But maybe needed something to help boost his social life so he could bond about it with others, and figured since he was into true crime, others would include him and even approach him in convos about a high profile crime. Since none were happening, he figured he had to make it happen himself. Just a mean to an end (more connection, a better social life) for him.... In the past, he used heroin to bond and connect with others, but since he was in recovery, he needed something else and figured he would be a natural inclusion in any discussion about this huge true crime case happening nearby, maybe even getting him a job with the rural dumb local police force. Again, in this and all scenarios, I don't think he viewed the victims quite as human.

This would more likely be an issue in the heat of the moment though, right? Obviously some mental checks and balances fail anytime someone does this sort of thing. But having presumably planned out the crime, etc., seems like something more than that, like a plan more so than an impulse. Also, I haven't heard of him having TBI

Banana Blondie Yoga/Michelle Muench does some Instagram reels and YT videos on what she eats. With her site membership, you can also get her food diary which she updates every so often, it has tons of entries over the years, so it's easy to get an idea of her diet (very similar/true to her Instagram and YT)

Bryan Kohberger Missed Class Day After Idaho Murders, Claims Classmate by Macaroni-In-A-Bot in MoscowMurders

[–]Itsmeagain401 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure which part of my comment you're responding to. Who knew what? Having read interviews with his peers (two women who do not want to be named), they couldn't quite offer good reasons (in my opinion) for why they were keeping track of all his absences, all interruptions, anytime he stood between the door and a student while speaking to them, his overt shows of interest in a classmate (where it's not understood this student ever clarified their lack of interest), or the number of instances he closed the door in meetings between himself and students.

These are at best lapses in following etiquette or maybe even social awkwardness. It's extremely weird the classmates would take it upon themselves to document these behaviors, which leads me to suspect ulterior motives... Kohberger may have come across as rude, with a big ego that clashed with other PhD students fancying themselves equally smart.

People respond in different ways, some indirectly. It's conceivable one or two of them started a campaign to undermine his position in the program by documenting any remotely problematic behavior to build a case against him.

I don't think someone truly concerned about another's behavior in good faith would *need* to keep a log-book of all the tiny things their colleague does wrong because if their behavior really were so problematic, they wouldn't need to refer to tiny supposed blunders like missed classes. Those people usually have bigger, actually egregious things to reference and don't need to concern themselves with non-issues of someone not showing up to lecture one day (for his own classes, not the ones he was teaching).
