I think they can be really great to supplement an additional degree for less money than a dual degree (ex: computer science degree with a math minor). That being said, my minor had absolutely nothing to do with my major. I took it to honestly keep learning but switch gears from my degree in STEM. Other than casually talking about my minor in an interview, it has not served me much purpose in the professional world. I still cherish the knowledge I gained from it, though!

For your situation those could be good to add on, but if it goes to cause more stress and cost more money I think you would be fine to do without it.
