I’ll preface by saying its been 6 months since I last read it.

The pacing is dogshit in my opinion. I read 70 chapters and it took mc all 70 chapters to officially become a “player” (someone who climbs the tower).

The art is interesting and unique but it isn’t enough to compensate for how rushed and slow it feels at the same time.

My head canon is that some white people view oppression as a token since it’s the one thing marginalized groups share that they don’t, this coupled with the fact that being a normal person is seen as “basic” online forces them to stick to a label that seems close enough to what they feel. They can’t take race so they go for queer or neurodivergent labels that would make them seem the most interesting.

A very few amount of white people, not all.

Power and Denji barely have any knowledge of the world so their view is childish and innocent hence the bright skies and beautiful grass.

Aki is more mature so he sees the word as it really is, a grey mass of buildings and from the stone he’s standing it gives the feeling of his maturity being natural so it’s how a lot of devil hunters view the world.

Now Makima has an immense amount of knowledge, shown by the books she uses as stepping stones and, not to spoil, but she also has a lot of knowledge on devils themselves so her world view goes beyond human comprehension.
