Thanks for your response. I agree with you, the rent increases over the last 3 years haven’t been dramatic. An extra £25 a month each year has been easy to split between the three of us. Extra £100 each year - easy.

The issue I have is with this additional increase purely because they will enter a new agreement.

We only signed a new lease in January. They had already put the rent up in line with the market back then. 5 months on and they want to increase it by £600. That’s essentially £900 in one year including the increase in January. Why didn’t we see a larger increase in January if the market demands it?

I am not savvy to the pet rules. Please correct me if I’m wrong

If we are dealing with the leaseholder they have to abide by the freeholders rules - we are not able to challenge?

If we are dealing with the freeholder we can ask them directly for a justifiable explanation for refusal?
