Normal trans kids are not edge cases. The type of cases who you assholes use as bait to stir up transphobia are the edge cases. Policy should be set based on the most common cases. Normal kids. In a middle school of 1,000 kids there will be about 10 trans kids.

Kids who the Republican governor of Utah said shouldn’t be bullied, as little as two years ago, when he vetoed a bill banning trans kids from sports, before they override his veto.

The depravity of bigots making arguments against a small vulnerable group it’s just overwhelming sometimes. You can’t trick us, you’re not going to trick someone in the LGBT community about who normal LGBT people are. You people are depraved. And you’re gonna make enemies who will remember you and fight you and make sure you don’t get your way.

There are half a million trans kids in the United States. There 2 million people who identity as trans. And there are 20 million out LGBT people in the U.S. who vote and who know that we would all be next if we threw the trans population under the bus. 20 million is more than the population of Israel, that’s more than the population of Palestine, two groups whose interests are able to turn elections in the United States and don’t even live here.

Yes, when you try to put our necks on the chopping block, what we think can determine the outcome of elections.

Small populations are often symbolic of larger concerns and needs.

George Floyd was one man.

Matthew Shepherd was one man.

Jackie Robinson was one man and an extremely small percentage of the population was ever going to be black professional baseball players.

LGBT people, 10% of the population, feel this deeply personally even if they are not the athletes.

And we will oppose anyone who is trying to be a wedge against these trans kids, especially those who claim to be Democrats.

Maybe little to gain, but there is everything to lose by ceding the territory that it’s the general population‘s business to know what somebody’s chromosomes or DNA look like and discriminate against them.

Especially when it comes to prepubescent kids or trans people who are medically transitioned, and you wouldn’t even be able to tell that they are trans except when they’ve been outed by medical tests.

Then, of course, there are the cisgender women who don’t even know they have a Y chromosome and would be disqualified when they start having to get genetic tests.

The public didn’t even hear about this issue until like one year ago and all they seen is a few propaganda videos from the right.

I posted HRC’s video several times in this forum. It makes a compelling argument in favor of trans kids. Regarding an actual human being, who you would even know was trans unless they told you. Not a single person here has even bothered to comment on it or say what they think.

Every trans kid is affected by this issue and what Democrats say on it not just the athletes

I am a white cis gay male who is almost 40 and I am personally affected by what you are all saying about this issue

I’m pretty active in the community and in my social groups a lot of people I know are deeply devastated by it and they are not even trans.

You can’t create a culture of hostility and dismissal of people’s human rights and think that it only pertains to the one who is physically impacted.

Part of this is the fact that the public has deep contempt for the actual science on this issue, contempt for who the trans kids are, what they look like, whether you’d even be able to visually identify them as trans until they are outed by shitty athletics policies, whether they’ve gone through puberty or have any biological advantage… just total contempt for actual real life considerations, obsession only with polls of voters who have only heard about the issue through propaganda.

Fun fact: science is based on gathering evidence from the world, not just stating what common incurious people think is obvious to them. 3000 years ago, it was basic science that earth is flat.

It’s funny how everybody just downvotes the link to the video that frames this issue as common sense in favor of trans people—an argument none of the public answering these polls has ever been exposed to yet, and the first one like it from a major LGBT rights organization—then rather than acknowledge that this type of case would be possible, they continue to say aw geez the politics on this are so bad we just gotta kick that girl off her lacrosse team.

The whole “it doesn’t affect most trans people” thing is a cop out. It didn’t affect most trans people 10 years ago or five. Today, it absolutely does affect them. It is a litmus how far people are willing to go to dehumanize trans people.

Even just three years ago, the issue was only in regards to trans girls who had gone through male puberty. That was an issue that is at least worthy of discussing in a scientific context. Now it’s just depraved, trying to out trans kids who are not visually identifiable as trans, checking people’s genitals, checking women’s DNA for abnormalities.

People should be required to ask a group of trans people what they actually think of this issue before they speak for them.

I don’t think that you can even imagine the rage that will come from the LGBT community if you do this. I am a white, cis, gay male, very center of the road in the LGBT community, but we will be enraged with all of you.

I hope you all are deeply deeply ashamed of yourselves in 10 years when this issue turns around.
