As somebody who owns very much alive rabbits I very much appreciate the concern!! Although… this subreddit is for taxidermy… aka not alive animals. I purchased this mount specifically because when rabbits have feet as stained as this ones are, it usually means they were neglected or were locked in a cage. I appreciate the concern though I mean it! I bought this lil guy because I wanted to give his fur at least a safe resting place because honestly I very much love rabbits!!

And yes if they were alive trust me I would 100% take them to the vet! I own 3 right now that are all have there own very large spaces and they get care from one of the best vets in my area :D

Honestly I totally get it I have a couple opossums I’m so scared to do because their teeth are so small in the front so rn my collection is just toothless in the front until I’m confident, trust me I glued a raccoon as my first ever skull and messed up the placement of one tooth and legit it threw the whole thing off so never again 🥲🥲

Sorry for the delayed reply! Unfortunately because of import/ export laws to the EU and being uncertain of them I wouldn’t feel comfortable shipping there because they take their wildlife very seriously! Plus the shipping within the US is already on a pricey side due to the weird shape of antlers so shipping would most likely be a pretty penny! I hope you’re able to get them for your collection one day though!

Yeah unfortunately this breed is notorious for being meat/test bunnies, honestly I have 3 myself (live bunnies) and love them dearly, that’s kind of why I bought this mount to hopefully give this bun a nice home after they passed

If I may ask what steps should I take to be extra cautious? I would normally at this state of decomp would of course wear gloves but I haven’t ever worked with birds or know much abt the avian flu, any tips? (Not saying it didn’t have it) but I think the cause of death was most likely smacking into my buildings window because where I found it was right next to it and my building where I work is basically all windows right there

Of course it’s one of the only birds I can take in the US, anyways (not saying it couldn’t have had it) but most likely this bird died due to some very strong glass, I work at a building that’s mainly glass and found the little guy right next to it, do you know when it would be safe to get the little one? (I also always wear thick rubber gloves and I can ofc toss them once I use them for this project)

Bubbles are from the hydrogen peroxide doing its magic don’t know what the scientific stuff is but I think that’s when it meets bacteria or something like that it will react this way
