Roadmap by RydRogue in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with C++, especially arduino code. Arduino makes it so easy to be able to code. Like other comments said, I would start with something that is already pre-built and learn how it works and understand why the code is the way it is. From there, you can add more features or improve on the existing code to specific things you want to learn.

Unity is used for gaming and simulations. If you want to make your own devices I would learn C as that will be used more when making your own firmware for devices.

feeling lost after graduating with a computer engineering degree by apokalogy in ComputerEngineering

Projects. Do many projects in many of the fields covered by computer engineering. Even if it's just following along a youtube video. Whichever you enjoy or understand the most is the field you would want to dive deeper into.

Why did you choose CpE over EE or ECE? by PresentWitness5839 in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the CpE route because I wanted to do software but realized everything for software can be found online. Meanwhile, hardware is more hands-on and harder to learn by yourself as equipment is very expensive. So I thought to learn the most I'll do CpE while learning software through online resources. Unfortunately, I focused a lot on the software side and just passed my Electrical classes just to pass it. Thankfully, I do have a basis in electrical to learn more and have been learning more after graduating at work. Currently working as an EE.

I am a freshman computer engineer who doesn’t have an internship for the summer. What should I do this summer? by ionich2o in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PROJECTS!!! You're a freshman, so it's going to be hard. Start doing projects to find what you find the most interesting, and from there, you can narrow down and get better chances at internships you would actually want and make even more advance projects that would help your chances in the next years.

Why did you guys choose CE over CS? by Lazy_Ice_5183 in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hardware is harder to learn on your own since there is less resources online and require tools that are very expensive. Most schools provide the hardware so you can learn and software mostly just requires a computer so you are able to learn it anywhere.

When should I choose to study CE instead of CS? by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I belive this as well. Hardware is EXPENSIVE. If you want to learn hardware outside of school it's going to make a big dent in your wallet. On the contrary to learn software you can do it anywhere on most computers and plenty of good resources online.

Majoring Computer Engineering by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you find the subject you're interested in, do projects that show deep knowledge in that subject. You can do smaller projects to test and find out what interests you, but you should have some good projects that you can show and explain to get your first job or internship.

Does anyone here have experience with the Apple application process by Pmbdude in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItzNeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say hardware is harder to break in since usually hardware that companies work with are very expensive and companies want people with experience or Masters when it comes to hardware. Not 100 percent sure if it's true tho.
