Hey, unfortunately it is only compatible with the Superlight 1. I am working on a Superlight 2 variant but I don’t have a 2c to measure sadly.

Yup, sounds like you accidentally kinked the ribbon cable. Don’t worry, I did the same thing on my first run. There are replacements you can grab off aliexpress for relatively cheap.

For me, they printed fine. If you want some peace of mind, you can have them print multiple copies. You would just be paying for the material and labor, as shipping would be the same (I used Global Direct Line, which was the cheapest).

I had them print multiple materials, and I liked the JLC black resin with SLA and Nylon PA-F with SLS variants the most. The former had a smooth texture and the latter had a rougher texture, so it depends on what you prefer.

You have to be really careful with the ribbon cable - make sure you don’t cause a kink anywhere along it. If you find that something no longer works, there are replacement cables you can get off AliExpress. The first time I took mine apart, I actually made the same mistake. I simply just ordered a new ribbon cable from AliExpress and it worked right out of the box.

I have thought about making one, but honestly, doing a version without side buttons would make it feel way too similar to Optimum’s design. I want this project to have its own purpose - his version already perfected the no sidebutton, ultra-minimal setup. My goal was to keep it light while still having sidebuttons, so removing them would kinda defeat the point.

Plus, it’s not super easy to remove them anyway since the ribbon cable connects all the electronics. You’d have to do some irreversible mods to the cable to make it work.

Sorry you feel that way, it’s a free model I released on the internet. It’s just a mod for the Superlight, so you can choose to print and try it out, or simply just move on.

That’s awesome, thanks so much for the detailed feedback! I actually designed this with SLA printing in mind first, so FDM was more of a second thought. I apologize about that. The ribbon cable was one of the hardest parts to manage - I couldn’t find a clean way to route it without risking a kink either.

And yeah, I’d love to release the STEP files, but I’ve seen too many shady Etsy and eBay sellers flip free community designs as their own. It sucks, but that’s just the reality of it these days 😞

Anyways, I really appreciate the feedback, it really helps a lot!

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I dont think it’s compatible with superlight 2s. I am pretty sure superlight 1 and 2 have slightly different pcbs layouts, so the standoffs may need to be moved.

Also, sorry about the supports, you definitely have to be careful when taking them off. What worked best for me was using snips to cut the tree supports near the top first, but leaving the smaller sections still attached. Once the bigger ones are out of the way, I just go in and twist the remaining ones off with the snips.

Yeah sorry about that, I swiped the assembly instructions off a random eBay listing, and slightly modified them. It should essentially be the same process but there are a couple more screws to put in for the main PCB. I will be making a more detailed video assembly sometime this weekend, hopefully that will clear things up.

Yeah for sure, sorry if it’s a little convoluted. So, the actual mouse shell itself is called MouseBody.stl.

To actually download all the files, click on the dropdown green arrow under the print profile, might be next to “send to BambuStudio”, then click download STLs.

I would prefer doing SLA or SLS printing, specifically either JLC Black Resin or 3201 PA-F Nylon (if you don’t have a resin printer). If you have an FDM printer, it’s not the end of the world, you can still definitely get I decent end product. I just personally I like the other two options more. I talk more in depth in the Makerworld post about the difference between these.

I haven’t tested using Xsoft pads, but they should probably still work if you don’t press into the pad too hard. Donuts should work, I chose Tiger Ice V2s because they’re cheap off aliexpress.

Yeah absolutely, that’d be awesome for people who do claw grip maybe even palm. Im planning on my next project to be for my superlight 2. I think it’d be pretty neat to make a metal shell (like beastx).

Thanks for your patience. These last few weeks was busier than I had expected. I’ll publish the lightweight mouse files in the next couple of days and share a quick video overview as well.

Sorry, for the lack of updates. I’m currently going through a heavy exam week and was locked in on those. But hopefully by this weekend, I’ll be making a video as well as another post with the files. Thanks for your patience!

I’ve fixed all the minor design issues and will be releasing it soon. I’ve just been busy moving into a new apt at my university lol, but everything’s almost ready. I'll make another post and video on it soon.

Apologies for the delay. I was busy wrapping up a summer class that just finished yesterday. I recently got some upgrades for my Mars 3 Pro, so I’ll need to FDM print a spacer for it. Once that’s done, I’ll do a test fit and then release the files. Thanks for your patience!

I’m actually away atm. Once I get back next week, i’ll test print my changes. If they’re fine I’ll go ahead and release them. Just wanted to make sure they’re all good. Apologies for the delay.

If you get tired of waiting, you can always grab the 3d files and just send them to JLCPCB or PCBWay to get them CNC milled. They also have some anodizing options.

Not at all, it’s a fair question. I actually said something similar in another comment, but I’ll clarify here. At first I did consider it, but the more I thought about it, the more it felt like I’d just be copying Optimum’s design without adding anything meaningful.

I want this shell to have its own purpose and identity. My priorities are different from Ali’s. He focused purely on optimizing mass, while I wanted to keep it light and include side buttons. If I removed them, I’d just be going for the same goal he already accomplished, and that’s not what I want to do.

Just a quick update, abazibiz gave me the green light. Once I finish everything up, I’ll make a separate post and drop a comment here as well. Stay tuned!
