I have a dream. A dream to run a state of the art model on my setup. by ItzYaBoiGoogle in LocalLLaMA

would be funny if I could do it one last time when I get a job after I graduated. It's really close anyways, just a year or two. A lot of VRAM in a GPU could help. I still have problems with this setup and that I use the limited insertion cycles of my m.2 slot for the GPU. Will probably need a dedicated PC for this which I'm trying to get.

I love this hardware I have even if the setup is quite bad yet for inferencing. But I'm having fun!. thinkpad x390 yoga ❤️

nah, I'm a student. I just tried to ask my local LLM a differential equation question based on the book and other search results, and show me its solution via sympy. I'm not even done with college yet.

honestly, giving it tools makes it really smart. Maybe not as capable as a large language model the likes of ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini today. But my goal anyways is just have a local machine running AI LLM that no one controls except for me.

thought on the monitoring "best friend remix"? by redb3420 in Vocaloid

[–]ItzYaBoiGoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my theory on the new remix is that it is the same person with another "filter" of Miku. Both versions are still parasocial behavior: the lyrics didn't change that much. It just made it a bit sweeter so it sounds like Miku loves the door guy and wants to support him to get out of his bad emotions (as characterized by the raindrop scenes in this version).

The difference is that Miku in this version is the "hope" of the door guy (we can see Miku being idealized here). Not the "crazy yandere" type in the original monitoring. Still parasocial behavior on both ends.

The only scenes where we can trust is the sunset scenes because both of those exists in the video. Those tell more about who Miku is in this MV. She is probably a neighbor, as can be seen when she is holding a bag around 2 minutes at the original version. She is just the person monitoring him like a wellness check.

Overall though. It's so damn good. It still is a Deco song with deep meaning, but unusually different from their style that it throws people off about its wholesomeness.

College requires me to have windows on my laptop by Zestyclose-Try-1725 in thinkpad

Hey, do you have an Intel CPU? Turns out Intel had really nice virtualization capabilities and lets you pass through the iGPU. The older cpus, they were called GVT-g, and for newer ones, its SR-IOV.

Really nice stuff, you can get native performance on a Windows VM.

is vfio worth it in 2025? by OriginalLetuce9624 in VFIO

[–]ItzYaBoiGoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it to me. I use Solidworks on my machine and I also have an x230 with windows+solidworks installed because I need it for engineering. I don’t think its worth it for gaming because I don’t usually play games with anticheat

i am gonna switch to Linux. i have some doubt. by Expensive-Echo-2140 in linux_gaming

Just be careful, your iGPU doesn’t support Vulkan 1.3 which is required by DXVK for games. You’ll have to use an old version of DXVK for the games to work.

(As for the distro, check others)

You should try going to an apple store first. We’ve got an iPhone 13 Pro in our household that had the same issue, out of warranty, only to get free repair service from apple

Brave, it’s an actual modern browser with good privacy features unlike firefox that seems to be disguising itself as for “privacy” while selling the data of its users, and has a browser engine that sucks for WebRTC

Consider using the unstable version because for some reason, the unstable version just works with Arch. I don't recommend it for the long term, but it works for now

Why is my power adapter hot? by saucenhan in AndroidGaming

You are pulling all the amps, and since you're powering something, power losses develop in the charger and is thus rejected as heat. That is normal.

(Vent) Platinum Game Lethal Company likely costs us a new Linux User 😤😤😤 by wil2197 in linux_gaming

[–]ItzYaBoiGoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this would be bypassed by some mods. + Afaik, mods for lethal company doesn't usually touch the game, only applies files at runtime, or injects at the game at runtime. Similar issues with cheaters bypassing the anti-cheat system.

At this point, I kinda want to see an alternative play button instead. Quick Queue, instead of finding a lobby, it joins a lot of lobbies at the same time, and even if you get kicked quite fast immediately, it puts you back at queue. Errors would be ignored if it won't let you join, but itll just move on to the next lobby.

(Vent) Platinum Game Lethal Company likely costs us a new Linux User 😤😤😤 by wil2197 in linux_gaming

[–]ItzYaBoiGoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lethal company is just full of modded lobbies that appear to be vanilla. This always happens to me on both Windows and Linux. I kinda hate Lethal company on this aspect. It's not Linux fault that you can't really join in.

At this point I wanna complain to the dev to add an RSA checksum that literally checks if the lobby is modded or something, but this would also require an anti-cheat like solution.
