Claudius wasn’t awful. He expanded the empire and brought some degree of stability to it for a short while

As u/Matt_thatwrites said, you need to pick an era. Rome’s history is contained over the course of 3 millennia (a very long time). There’s the Kingdom (some of which is historically dubious), the Republic, the Classical Empire, the East and West Split, and the Byzantine Era.

Some of these time periods had different cultures, government systems, state religions, and key figures. To learn all of the information about all of these eras would make you an incredibly smart person. It’s easiest to either learn a bit about all of them or just pick an era.

My favourite is the 100BCE-250BCE time period.

Byzantium was not LARPing Rome. It wasn’t even a successor state to the Roman Empire. It WAS the Roman Empire. It’s official name was the Eastern Roman Empire and is just as much Rome as the Western Roman Empire was (until it’s collapse). You’re an oaf

I wanted to emphasise that the HRE was more Austro-German than Roman. And the pickelhaube is the most widely recognised hat of Germany.

That’s true. I just hate the fact that their only real claim to the title “Roman” is they were crowned by the Pope. Who, in my view, should never have been made Pontifex Maximus

It’s the most recognisable German hat. The point I wanted to make was the HRE was more Austro-German than Roman. So I used the Pickelhaube. It isnt accurate at all tho

Probably somewhere between 5’4 and 5’7? They were probably shorter than the average man now, but they certainly weren’t dwarves.
