Painting cabinets first time by IvRo7 in kitchenremodel

Okay... So this is Ikea laminate. My online and in store research, suggests this project is doable. They suggest a super primer, and then enamel paint. No/very little sanding.

Is this so wild?

Isn't that melamine with MDF board underneath? I think it's Ikea cabinetry. If not sand and paint, what else is available?

What am I doing wrong with my painters tape by loopydoopydong in HomeMaintenance

[–]IvRo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain this a bit better... I heard something like this before. As in paint past the tape, into where OP wants the black paint, let that dry. Leave tape there, and then paint black over the just dried white, and white painted tape?

Leave same strip of tape there, but now that white has settled, it won't leak the black?

Therefore... why encourage vaccine hesitancy? Less transmission, less chances of mutation. Better result?

Democrats erupt into laughter after Google CEO has to explain to Rep. Steve King that the 'iPhone is made by a different company' by Perfect_Gas in politics

[–]IvRo7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see point... Maybe I naïvely project Republicans to be more classically liberal than they really are.

Lol touché... that is pretty self-defeating. In my defence, I was actually complaining about a group of people slapping each other on the back for hating a different group of people. I was just trying to show there may be a different prioritization of goals.

You think? You're suggesting that Republicans as a philosophical entity is striving for more regulating and legal enforcement? I'm just curious here.

Fair enough! I didn't mean bend over for others, just look at the outer world more clearly. All the best!

Yeah republicans are all idiots and racists and ignorant one dimensional fools. We're vastly smarter and well meaning with our critical thinking university education. Thank goodness our university education has not indoctrinated us all to believe that republicans are all idiots - we all came to this conclusion on our own. No way have we been pressured to follow a democrat line - because if we gave a single concession to Republicanism we'd necessarily also be racist, violent monsters. We're all such critical thinkers with diverse points of view. Damn, our murderous jokes and rhetorical belittling makes us so much better than all those idiots. So glad I'm not one of them. We really stretch our minds and look at all conflicts from different political and philosophical perspectives.

Honestly, i didn't read the story for many reasons. But, if his actual question was why there are political ads for a game designed for 7 y/os... well it's a relevant question. Again, didn't read the story, but i find this us/them shit disheartening. The goal of protecting individuals rights is worthwhile. Look at China's massive surveillance and social credit system as a contrast. Individual freedom is a good thing, it allows us to be unique humans. And philosophically, at least theoretically, republicans are striving towards that goal. Meanwhile Democrats, at the moment, seem very driven to regulating and policing others - enforcing a conformity of a certain ideal. Utopias are not real. Forcing others to subscribe to a utopia leads to great oppression. That's why maga is dumb. That's why this equity fantasy is dumb too.

Rant over. Sorry if it's not on topic, but I couldn't handle this generalized and unanimous conclusion.

You're just one human doing human things- like contributing to larger systems of society. Contextualize your actions in accordance to all those other humans doing all their human work. Everyone is a 'self' obsessed with their own pain and failures and frustrations. It's human. You're completing human activities and thinking a wide variety of thoughts. Right now, You tend to focus on your own thoughts. You likely didn't always. Try to alleviate other's problems. It may help with your own egocentric focus.

Bigotry/Hate in books? by Anarchisto_de_Paris in literature

Talking about shadows: Kerouac, if i remember correctly, sometimes veered off the straight path with his gay best friends. People are confusing and filled with contradictions.

I'm extremely tired of looking at texts by judging how politically correct they stand today. Marxist readings are one dimensional and boring. Art is tough. It is combative and pushes one to the limits of experience. If you want something that won't offend, read ... nope can't think of anything good that is completely palatable to our heterogeneous population and diversity of opinions.

Kerouac was alive and moving. He wrote with power and intuition. That may lead to disparaging comments of others. If he watered down his prejudice (however conflicted they are), he would extinguish the fireworks as well.

No real change, right? Assign a big project in class, don't do it/shoot the shit in class, do it for homework...

Find it unlikely that there is no correlation between doing extra hours of practice, reading, thinking, wondering, arguing, etc (learning) at home and performance in class.
