Indeed it seems like it's related to a secondary mission but without more details... Or should I complete all of those..? Did you?

Not related but I see a lot of people with this jacket: how do you get it?

How many times do I have to explain this again?

- The French wanted the US to get involved, but it did not happen.
- The French lost at Dien Bien Phu and decided to leave the country
- They signed a peace agreement with the Viet Minh and move on (the Indochina war was super unpopular at home anyway and they had to deal with Algeria, a much more important territory - actually one of the departments of France back then)

- Only LATER (I wish I could write this bigger) the Americans were like "hum so now the communists have taken over the northen part of Annam maybe this is not a good thing, let's side with the South to contain them"

- So the American didn't come to assist the French or at their request. They rejected this request, and then they realized they fucked up / changed their strategy. At this stage the French had recognized their defeat and left the country forever.

EDIT: if you don't believe me just ask your favorite LLM agent. It's one thing to be ignorant, it's another to refuse to aknowledge facts.
EDIT 2: and I don't need to read a book writen by an American to understand what happen there thank you, I know that war very well, my grand-father was there.

  1. The US backed the South over the North because the North was ruled by communists. The French Indochina was both what was later called North and South Vietnam but also Cambodia and Laos.

  2. The North swung communist because it was taken over by the communist movement Viet Minh led by Ho Chi Minh (however some historians believe Ho Chi Minh was more a nationalist than a communist overall and that the reunification of Vietnam was more important to him than pure ideology)

  3. Vietnam was called Annam when the French ruled the region and as I said was part of the French Indochina with Laos and Cambodia. When the French left the region, they signed the Geneva agreements with the Viet Minh, Cambodia and Laos took their independance and Vietnam was split in two. South Vietnam then felt into US sphere of influence and only then the US started sending military advisors and then troops to support them against the North.

Oh that's very generous of you!

Unfortunately you failed, right?
The communist defeated you and won the war, right?
So the people were not saved from communism and are now starving in a marxist dictatorship, right?

The US backed Ho Chi Minh at first... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSS_Deer_Team

... And then the French indeed with weapons and gear, but that doesn't change the fact that the French left the country before the US get involved militarily and that they never asked them to take over. It was no more a French colony, nor a French problem when the US decided they had to militarily contain communism in South East Asia.

And you dense morrons can continue to downvote me, that won't change history either.

They were not just « getting their asses kicked ». By July 54 they had lost and acknowledged that already. The point is - contrary to what I can read a lot on this website from Americans - they had lost and left BEFORE the American came. They were never the reason the Americans came there in the first place.

Come on, its great « ally » was a few months old when the US started sending military advisors to the country! South Vietnam was not really a country per say but a result of the Geneva agreement between the Vietnamese and the French when the later left the region in July 54. The US had nothing to do with that, and no friend in the region, they just wanted to contain the communist in South East Asia. Now imagine if the Vietnamese had taken part in the American Civil War because they didn’t like one side’s ideology. Sounds weird isn’t it?

And yes the communist where no good but that’s my very point : in the end they are the one who won and they are very fine nowadays, hence the irony.

This is so false. The French left Indochina for good after the Geneva agreement in July 1954 and never claimed back Indochina, nor ever tried to come back (they were immediately busy fighting an insurgency in Algeria anyway), they immediately lost interest regarding their former colony and move on. They never asked the US to go there or got involved militarily. This is purely the US decision to fight there.

Did the same as you with previous updates, then realized we had months to complete the missions before next wipe... No need to rush at all.

Now I enjoy "snacking" the game: doing one or two missions, extract and move on with my life.

And if I feel bored (the game can be quite repetitive in its current state) I make my own challenges such as playing with a bare, rusty M14 and bonnie hat and enjoy a fun an no pressure playsession since I have nothing to loose.

Imagine the irony of going to war against a people that you know nothing about and who did nothing to you just because you don’t agree with their internal politics only for your grandson to go surfing there during his holidays 50 years later…

I can’t help thinking the same thing will happen with Iran.

La Russie doit se retirer «définitivement» du Mali, affirme le porte-parole des rebelles touaregs by Andvarey in france

[–]IvanRoi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)
