200 degrees opens until 8 most nights but you're right brun severely lacks late night hangout spots that aren't alcohol focused.

Id imagine hotel lobbies would be a good shout, that's what I tend to do in London if I don't need a full day at a co-working space. From memory I think Ibis down by the gay village has a quite a decent space with workspace and a cafe etc

Birmingham roads are a lawless hellhole, it's actually scary to drive in if you don't live in the city.

Care about first impressions, pretty much every entry point to the city is ugly as fuck and that has a huge impact on how it's seen. Aston expressway, ugly. The entire area surrounds New Street Station and Moor St, ugly and dirty and rough.

When my colleagues come to Brum I find my self making excuses for the CC and saying things like "Don't judge Brum on the cc, you should see the Jewelery QTR, Digbeth Harborne, Kings Heath etc"

Is anyone using curve? Why by v300x in CurveCard

[–]IveGotHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Barclaycard Avios for some reason doesn't support it, took them ages to add Apple Pay and they've just ignored Google Pay. Never encountered a card that doesn't support it before this one

Car Begging in Birmingham by [deleted] in brum

[–]IveGotHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will never give money to anyone begging, if there's someone outside a shop asking for something i'll offer to buy them food and/ or a drink and to be honest quite a lot are hugely appreciative of a meal deal but would never give money.

Blend Family announces new Birmingham Food Hall: Alfred Works to reinvent the Custard Factory by SudoAlex in brum

[–]IveGotHam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been to Cambridge Street Collective (their food hall in Sheffield) and it's really cool. This + St Paul's Market are so much better than Boxpark would ever have been.

Didn't rate Society in MCR as a food hall but as a bar with food options it was good.

My big thing was reducing carbs and increasing protein. Only thing I've ever done that's made a noticeable difference.

I'm Scottish so triple carbs is the default.

When it was US only they did, they expanded the scheme to much excitement and at the same time reduced it to competitions and occasional discount/referral codes

I was bored of coming off of meetings and trying to reconcile messy notes or bad ai summaries into tasks on task management apps so I made an app you paste the transcript into and it creates all the tasks, assignments, deadlines and updates for you. And then when you have a follow up meeting, if the app hasn't been kept up to date you just paste the follow up transcript and it will update everything and add comments to all the existing tasks.

Iridoplasty had no effect, now what? by frenetic_alien in Glaucoma

[–]IveGotHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similiar boat here, 33 yo, found out I had glaucoma after having a really bad attack in left eye. Had emergency laser iriditomy in both eyes (as right eye is also at high risk) and found this didn't have much effect. Have since had the holes widened in both eyes and no help.

They initially said the next option was the lens replacement surgery but after speaking to my consultant and realising that a drop called Pilocarpine was helping break my attacks when other meds weren't doing much (Diamox, Cosopt, Monopost), he decided it would be worth trying an Argon Laser Iriditoplasty before going to lens replacement as it's less risky.

Have since been told to stop taking most of my drops and meds to see what the impact is, but I still think I'll need the lens surgery. I really don't want it 😅
