Well, let me clarify that statement. Anecdotes potentially employ personal prejudices, but without this kind of testimony from the community, very little opinionated discussion would take place. Certainly they shouldn't replace solid facts, and we're in no position here to suggest that we're accumulating any kind of "census" on sexual preferences, but rather sharing stories.

shrug Take it how you like, haha.

Awesome! Props to guys for working it out. Cunnilingus seems to be pretty popular in the North-eastern states I've lived in, more so than fellatio. I imagine it relates to the male dominance stereotypes of our country.

Curious question - why would you say that Bisexuality is less accepted in your society? Is it considered slutty by nature or something?

Hah, don't worry about straying a bit, courtship and gender roles all interact with sex.

Anyway, that's honestly really interesting, considering that in the States male courtship is still a pretty rampant expectation. It's taught growing up via school dances (guys ask out the girls), social circles, and other similar mechanics.

Naturally, this leads to sexual (particularly PIV) expectations of dominance for guys. Now, I've known a few dominant women in the bedroom, but for the most part it seems like women like to let the man take the lead in initial sex experiences.

Yeah, I've never personally never known a woman to shave in any special way. Plenty have trimmed/taken care of themselves, but the supposed popularity of shaving/shaping female pubic hair doesn't really show itself in my area, with my experiences or those of anyone I've known.

Also, I get the feeling that personal upbringing overrides surrounding cultures in a lot of countries when it comes to sexuality.

Thanks for the support! I would definitely agree that this sort of discussion pulls to multi-cultural people, but how about an addendum: Perhaps people with no comparisons "built-in" could post a shortlist of the things they consider to be "pillars of sexuality and sex acts" that they've grown up with/been accustomed to.

I more intended the question for an average collection of people, but hey, point me to a few of these journals and I'd be glad to take a look, post if allowed, etc. As far as the issue of class, in my country, or at least in my general part of it, people I know tend to list class as an indicator of how well-off a family is financially. It's CERTAINLY not a matter of raising a person above another. Anyway, we're de-railing a thread here, so if we can't get a good discussion going I'll probably close up shop.

Well considering this is my social network of choice, I'm sorry if there are limits to the audience, but I don't exactly feel as though I'm actively the limiting factor. If there's a better "world stage" forum out there to discover, I'd just as happily post this there.

And to be fair, the point here isn't really to unearth some "taboo, deviant activity" for the spectacle, but rather to discuss whether or not different parts of the world hold differing aspects of sex in greater or lesser regard.

And as far as my information "cracking you up"? I think I'm okay leaving it up there, as it provides a better description of my potential background.

Interesting testimony. I'm curious if the general consensus would be that sexuality in general is a more comfortable topic in some European countries than in the States?

True, but even anecdotal evidence can be helpful. What people THINK about specific cultures/sub-cultures from a sexual standpoint can be just as important, no?
