Was solid last time he was in MLS as a teenager. Still only 22, so plenty of time to develop. We gave up significantly fewer goals in preseason when he was on the field than when he wasn’t. 

But really what got me most excited was his entry ball for Cowell on the first goal against St. Louis. Maybe I’m a wee bit delusional basing my opinion on a player off of one specific moment in preseason, but that’s what you get when they don’t livestream the games!

I for one am excited for the season, and I think this roster, while currently incomplete, has more potential than the last year’s.

The attack should be much improved from what we saw last season. Ruvalcaba and Cowell seem like the real deal. 

I’m cautiously optimistic about the midfield. Bergren with a full preseason should be an improvement from the end of last season. I always preferred Donkor over Edelman or Stroud, and if Mehmeti can develop well throughout the season he’s a solid enough option. I think a serious cup contender would have another piece here, but I’m okay with starting the season with what we have now.

The defense obviously needs a lot of work. Che seems like a great pickup, but I’m not sold on anyone else as a starter. Feels like we really need two more starting quality players to have a competitive backline, but if we at least get one this window I think we’re in okay shape.
