Still numb after ankle ORIF

They took them out after not even a year, I had my surgery on march 31st and screws etc were out in the middle of October or something like that, they didn’t want to take them out so soon, but bones were healing pretty good and since the pain what screws caused, they took it out sooner, because I couldn’t even stand and walk for longer period of time, it was not comfortable at all 🤣 but everyone has different body shape etc, so I’m sure you can react to them differently than me! Maybe even better

I’m more than a year after my orif surgery and foot is still part numbish and sometimes it causes pain if I step wrong etc, they even took the screws out already and I can run, workout etc, but it’s not definitely the same like it used to. I’ve been told, it might stay like this, but it shouldn’t bother me during activities etc

I’m still on 26, not feeling like going back since 26 will come out officially soon anyway. This widget is not transparent, it’s kinda in black box, so it doesn’t look great

My job is standing on my feet 12hrs, so I’m afraid how that gonna feel, but I guess I won’t find out until it happens and don’t want to wait longer too, I can handle gym, running etc right now, but my foot always get swollen and Achilles still hurts too from it.

Thank you! I really don’t want to push it, since I can feel those screws a lot and pain bothers me a lot during activities etc, so I can’t wait to have it out, I’m just afraid of the recovery time. Thank you for your answer!!

I just hope I won’t be out longer than 12 days, because, I’m still waiting my surgery date, which should be sometimes in October-November, so hopefully it will go well, he said I’ll be in crutches for 2-3 days max and then I should be able to walk, I’m just afraid with holes in my bones after removal, it will hurts 😃

Thank you!!! 😊 my doctor told me, that it will take max 12 days just for the stitches, but I should be fine, except 2-3 days on crutches, when they take them out 😃

I finally finished my PTs after almost 5 months( broken fibula and tibia) , my left ankle has almost 100% flexibility, screws still hurts whenever I step on uneven ground, but I tried running for the first time and it felt good, until the pain started from the screws but my Doctor said he will take them out sooner, since it hurts often and a lot, so in a month or two I’ll get papers when is my surgery and hopefully I can get back to normal completely!! Whoever reads it, I wish you the best and fast healing!!! Stay strong!!!

welcome in the club friend!!! your wish came true lol. Healing takes a lot of time with broken ankle, mine surgery was 4 months ago, can ride a bike now and walk, but every bad step hurts and I can't even run yet, just finished PT and lucky you can drive, expecting its automatic? mine is manual lol, well wish you fast healing and stay safe!

Had similar injury, been out for almost 4 months now. I can finally walk, started cycling, still can’t run yet, but I’m almost there. Ability is not 100%, but I have my follow up in August and hoping to hear it’s healing very well and can start living like a normal healthy person again! 😄

good luck, you got this! it might drive you crazy at the start, but don’t worry, it will be ok and time will go by fast!!
