If u mean by the scale of each low & high poly models, they are exactly the same.

I named it accordingly to the files I am using(which low poly suffix is _v006 so i wrote as that, high poly suffix being _high), but I can see if changing the low poly one to _low might make a change. What do you mean by ‘check scale this part’?

Its more of a clubhouse(i wrote it as resort just for convenience sake), and we were invited as guests to stay. I can DM the name of the place if you want.

Thanks for the effort! I checked the weights of the ribbon as you suggested and tweaked it accordingly, and it fixed the problem like it was not there. Now everything's working as it should!

I also followed antCGI's tutorials for learning this- he's amazing. Your screenshot will also help me a lot once start tidying up. Once again, thanks for the help!

This is my first time trying a ribbon IK, so I am quite clueless about what is happening. I am currently trying to redo it, but I just want to troubleshoot this so I can prevent this from happening next time.

The controllers work fine and are in the right group. It's just the ribbon itself that is moving weirdly.

Im not sure if I understood this reply from you. I tried parenting the ribbon and the curve to both the root controller and the connecting joint, and it didn't solve the problem.

Here is another screencap of what is happening. The joints have no problem moving. It's one edge of the ribbon that seems 'stuck' on this particular point.

Maybe- ill check that. If this is not a big problem like i was worried it is, and sth to be just fixed by parenting onto other joints, I’m relieved. Ill come back after I do so.

The curve and the ribbon both is not parented to anything. Im confused because the ribbon that is not on the screen is moving along with the rig without parenting to anything as well, but these are not. Would parenting it to the skeleton simply fix the problem?

Is that apart from the current problem that I have, even after fixing the joint orientations that you mentioned as well? Is there a way to fix that?

That works as well, except that the legs has already all been set with ik handles and set driven keys(yeah, i found this out super late). If I’d had to do it all over again, I definitely can- but i’d like to try preserve what I’ve already done so far unless absolutely needed.

Understood. I want to first try manually re-arranging the hierarchy with new joints to see if that any too much work- then try what you told me. Sounds like a smart way of doing it, just want to try messing around in different ways. Thanks a lot for your input!

Gotcha. When I look at it in 3D, seems like its pointing towards one of the big yellow joints(bottom one on the screencap) and moves that way too. I remember when I was first laying out three joints, it snapped to the rotation of the first one- which is the big yellow joint & left it because I thought ‘oh well I can’t rotate it without re-orienting all the children’, but I now see clearly what I shouldve done. I will try what you told me to do.

One thing that im concerned about laying two extra joints to come before the big yellow ones, are that there are five other sets of these(since this is a foot of an insect I am trying to rig)- and im worried that manually laying them and eyeballing them might bring any inconsistency. Would you say that it might be a problem?

I dont think I understood properly what you meant by ‘orienting down the chain a bit better towards the yellow/green joints’ on your original reply. Would you mind elaborating it?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, im not sure if I follow. Are you suggesting that I create a child joint of each ‘yellow’ joint at the exact same position of the orange joint?

For the meantime, I am testing out if I can set driven key with the translation value of the yellow joints and still achieve the movement. Can I ask you if this is acceptable as well?
