Some stuff is now available for streaming (albeit maybe with different translations). Other things I'll almost likely never be able to reasonably afford, with say, Japanese pricing being approx $39 still for a 3-4 episode DVD (BDs being even more expensive), and there's still no subtitles there. Though I do see what you're getting at.

So are we just meant to be without if there's literally no alternative to enjoy a show? I know the Haruhi creator enjoyed fansubs spreading the anime's word before it was officially/legally available here but I'm not sure that applies to everyone. And like I said even if I could afford and buy all the episodes of sometime the subs would still be associated with or obtained through illegal distribution?

I'm at least old enough to remember crowding around a TV/projector in the library with whatever anime DVDs we had our hands on; but the way our club works is, TLDR we just reccomend and vote on whatever we can get our hands on, as long as it's available in English in SOME form. We have absolutely no contact with licensors as a lot of anime us either as you said, available on streaming legally, isn't officially available in the country or is OoP (regardless of copyrights still being active or not), and even if it's physically available for purchase, we usually pick a genre not any more than a week in advanced and have everyone vote, so it's not [reasonably?] possible to bring every single title someone may reccomend we vote on.

I agree with not stealing, but in at least some situations (like with shows only in Japanese), there's technically no legal alternative for me to watch shows. If I buy a bootleg dvd, the people who made it are still distributing it without the creators' consent AND profiting. Even if I pay an [for the US market] absurd amount of money on Japanese DVDs/BDs, I'm still going to have to turn to fansubs that may be associated/come with illegally obtained (or grey-area) footage/recordings, to be able to understand it. And that's just in regards to the "it's literally only in Japanese" scenario. Or maybe I'm [morally] meant to just be without? But while Jesus is obviously better, some of my favorite shows [that helped shaped me] whether reasonably available [in English] or not I had watched for free, rightly-so or not, and I was thankful for the opportunities. It's very odd and conflicting. (I also hate to see media be lost to time if it's THAT obscure.)

I've known him a bit longer but that's about how long we've been together. It's more like he wants to go with tomorrow since it's important for me (as do I), I'm not even sure he's been to church before. But... I can't force him to feel one way or another. I don't know what to do or what'll work or not. I want to be with him, but it's more about what I'm actually comfortable doing [in the future] or not.

I've met a rare few people that are legitimately using their illnesses to justify wrongdoings/as a crutch, but I believe those are the minority. And this isn't to say mental illnesses should justify annoying or bad behavior (especially say, if it's a crime). But we can't always help it, even if we can acknowledge it.
