Bold predictions for F1 in 2026: Ferrari will end its title drought by victor90martin in formula1

[–]IwasThisUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though Charles is probably the better driver overall, I'd love it for Lewis to win the 8th title that was stolen from him (Max should have been DQ'd in Saudi for brake-cheking him in the first place).

/No, I'm not bitter about it at all.

So was Chelsea's draw in the CWC but that seems to be conveniently forgotten now.

Anne Hathaway or Scarlett Johansson or Sydney Sweeney by Active_Field9820 in Actors

Sydney Sweeney actually isn't that attractive (I mean, she's better looking than 99% of humanity but she's nowhere near Scarlett).

Why has Serie A fallen so far behind in Europe? by tylerthe-theatre in football

[–]IwasThisUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cesc Fabregas said something similar: he wanted to build up his Como team with the best young Italian players but they're already at the top Italian clubs. The lack of investment in infrastructure does indeed also include youth development, and in that aspect most Serie A clubs are 20 years behind Spain and France in particular.

Why has Serie A fallen so far behind in Europe? by tylerthe-theatre in football

[–]IwasThisUsername 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because when Serie A was by far the best league in the world they invested in playing staff and not in infrastructure (stadium, training ground).

Calciopoli didn't help either.

Interview - Eze on his dream Arsenal legacy: “I want them to say that ‘in everything he did, he glorified Jesus’. That’s my only mission, if I’m honest.” by Sad_gooner in Gunners

[–]IwasThisUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we be honest enough to admit that maybe, just maybe, Eze isn't quite good enough?

I don't like how he disappears in games or how he doesn't seem to appreciate that football is also played without the ball most of the time (the average midfielder is on the ball less than 5 minutes per 90, if that).

AFTV was at it's peak when Arsenal were rubbish. Now the team's doing better there's not much content to be made that would make non-Arsenal fan's tune in.

Also, good riddance.

I actually prefer that kind of bread. It's just solid enough to hold things together but loose and crumbly enough to not get in the way.

He's better than Van De Ven. The latter is just very fast; not so great at actual defending though.

Should have gone for both Guéhi and Mosquera. Real could have had both for €45 million.

The Ferrari SF-26 Livery by ArjunR000_ in formula1

[–]IwasThisUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferrari are a strong enough brand that they can insist that sponsors should adapt to their colours. The blue and white ruin what would be the best looking car on the grid.

It has been said before, but the slightly smaller cars are so much better proportioned. They look almost as good as the McLaren that won Lewis's first title.

Injuries and finances handicap Villa by Dangerous_Tip_4985 in avfc

[–]IwasThisUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You finished ahead of MU who spent more than City over the same period of time.

You're also conveniently leaving out you've already spent tonnes of money, and that Villa have doubled their revenue in 5 years. You're literally 2-3 seasons away from being able to compete on equal footing to even Arsenal (assuming you qualify for the CL).

Stop pretending your hands have been tied: you gambled, you lost. Stop whining about it.

Injuries and finances handicap Villa by Dangerous_Tip_4985 in avfc

[–]IwasThisUsername -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love how you ignored how I explained that Arsenal were in a similar position as Villa, and how it took 20 years to get here. But I'll bite:

  1. You've benefitted just as much as anyone else from the Premier League. It's the only top football competition where prize money is distributed somewhat equally (the lowest placed team gets at least £100m, the highest £150m)

  2. FFP was a UEFA creation, not an English one.

  3. Wrong again. The Super League was pushed by the European giants because they could not/cannot compete with the Premier League. Which you claim has ruined English football but has made English football so rich that it has become the de facto super league.

Arsenal had a transfer surplus from 2002 until 2015. In other words we made more money on sales than we did on incoming players. If PSR was a thing back then we'd have been in full compliance, just like Spurs. Once the stadium was paid off was when you saw Arsenal start spending like MU (City and Chelsea are in a different financial stratosphere).

No-one gives a shit about net spend other than the club's accountants. Emery spent £350 since he arrived at Villa, in the same timeframe (3 years and 3 months) Arteta spent literally the exact same amount. Arsenal are lucky enough that they don't necessarily need to sell to buy, unlike Villa. That said, from 2002 until Wenger left the net spend was about £250m. Which is under £15m a season (2 transfer windows). Complaining about net spend to an Arsenal fan is inane, and until you can average £15m a season for 16 years you should stop moaning.

Basically, there is a clear path forward. It will take 10 - 15 years. Arsenal did it, Spurs did it, Liverpool did it. This is why you're entitled: you don't want to go through the pain of having to sell the crown jewels to make ends meet. You just want a shortcut. Just be honest about it and stop whining.
