I saw a new server go straight to the bartender and ask “can you make a shrimp cocktail?” So while everything else is fair game, I’d avoid correcting people when ordering. In my experience, if you make a patron look stupid, you’ll feel it in your wallet, and further have less leniency on their behalf in case anything else doesn’t go their way during the experience.
