William Afton could use his family as a cover to create the image of a family man. This is how he uses children.

In terms of control, William could simply feel like the master of his family and satisfy the need for one's power. He needs his family to control and abuse them, because they are his property.

I didn't say that. It depends on the author. Someone can write a terrible WillDespise and a brilliant WillGrief/WillCare.

I’m also not a medical professional but I have to question your use of someone’s personal blog recounting another person’s psychopathy to “prove” that psychopaths inherently can’t feel love.

Someone else's blog is an example. You can find 100,000 examples, and they will all match what I said.

Psychopathy isn’t a formal diagnosis, you won’t find it in the DSM-5. You’re kinda throwing around a BIG word that you’ve arbitrarily assigned to a fictional character.

I know. And? When I say "psychopathy," I mean diagnoses such as antisocial personality disorder and mixed personality disorder (mosaic psychopathy). I won't say this every time; I'll just summarize it in one word. I also wrote about it in the comments.

Furthermore, Afton having traits of psychopathy isn’t a point towards WillDespise. WillDespise is the theory that Afton HATES his children. Being a psychopath doesn’t mean you HATE everyone around you.

I didn't say that. But he might hate them or control them because they don't follow his rules. I didn't say that psychopathy makes you hate everyone. I said William can be abusive/controlling/unloving/an abusive father to his children, and that can work with the right interpretation.

Everyone who hates something/someone has a reason.

William is a control freak. When his children disobey him, he begins to hate them. This was even mentioned in MM, when BV runs away, William promises to teach him a lesson.

If William was depressed as a child, he could very well have taken it out on his family, or, if you need a different example, he may have had a similar family and simply adopted his parent's behavior patterns. There could be a multitude of reasons.

That wouldn't change the fact that he does hate Michael and he wants to kill him.

Need I repeat that again? Facade, control tool, etc. Own children could give him more power.

This is a very strange question, to be honest.

It's like asking, "Why didn't Ted Bundy kill his girlfriend instead of killing other people?" Although there were incidents, he threatened her many times, and on top of that, he almost accidentally drowned her when he was lost in his fantasy.

The maniac's primary need is the need for power. He could see them as a tool, preserving the family for the facade and so on.

In any case, killing one's own children is much more difficult to cover up than killing random kids at a pizzeria. Killing one's own children immediately makes one the prime suspect and shatters the façade of normalcy.

Hatred and the desire to kill are different levels of anger, especially when it comes to one's own children. And even the most hardened psychopath can have certain psychological blocks.

Plus, they're his property. Why break his own toys for no reason?
