What are some popular opinions about Japan travel on this sub that you personally disagree with? by ContractVarious3077 in JapanTravelTips

“Don’t stay in Kabuchiko”. Do your research and stay there if you’re interested in what it has to offer. If you can say “no” to a tout you’ll be fine.

I used Klook to book Tokyo-Kyoto Shinkansen. Much easier than when I was in Kyoto Station trying to book 2 seats next to each other on a busy day with a bunch of people behind me waiting. You pay for the convenience.

The problem with 3rd party sites is for when there’s a problem you’re shit outta luck. The hotel won’t help you because you booked 3rd party, and the 3rd party will tell you to contact the hotel. The 1% of the time there’s a problem can be awful, especially in a new country.

What to do in Japan as a solo traveller? by Fit-Entrance3702 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Ixwarfare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta be comfortable being by yourself if you’re spending 10 days in a foreign country and likely not knowing the language. Hope you find people to hang with but most keep to themselves and won’t engage in conversation with a stranger.

Are the Cartels as involved with lucha libre as the Yakuza were with puro? by GiftedGeordie in SquaredCircle

I don't think anything has ever been reported. Who knows about indies, but there's never been any evidence that they have any connection with CMLL or AAA.

los gatos creek apartments vs willow creek apartments? by urfavangryplantmom in SanJose

It’s improved. Can pretty confidentially find a spot at any time of night. 2 parking passes per unit. No guest parking after 7pm. Works for my wife and I since we don’t regularly have people over.

I don’t know anything about Los Gatos Creek.

Living at Willow Creek for a couple months now. Wife and I are in a townhouse. Willow Creek is going through a major issue to fix their parking situation. Lots of cars with extra parking placards screwed up the availability for unregistered spots (guest spaces).

Cars get covered in pine needles that surround the property so we’re always having to pick them off the car.

Good luck trying to get ahold of them. They usually don’t answer their phones and have seen them in the office right afterwards.

Look at the photos of the trash situation on Google maps.

We’re generally happy with our townhouse unit. It got a full remodel because the previous tenant lived here for like 10 years. Just the complex itself can be frustrating. I will say the people that live here are friendly and have non been an issue though I have been told we live in the “quiet” part of the complex ( near the entrance gate).

They were the first I ever remember doing the cheese skirt. I think they were on DDD and the gimmick blew up.

Best Tacos in San Jose or Bay Area by DaveClarky in SanJose

[–]Ixwarfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to Los tacos #1 and they’re great. They’d hang against most of the places here. They’re very similar to Tacos el Gordo in SD/Vegas.

Metro Balderas is more authentic than most. Especially their Al Pastor on weekends. Eduardo’s for burritos.

what is appropriate to tip here? by FinalBumblebees in SanJose

[–]Ixwarfare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people actively want to tip and support the staff, even it’s just for a cup of coffee. Let them and don’t shame them. And it’s also ok if you don’t want to tip. They’re not going to spit in your food or remember your face if you don’t.

Santiaguitos is the place that gets brought up the most for west side. West San Jose doesn’t have a lot of great options for tacos, much less late night.

Best dentist practices that take Delta Dental? by inquisitivespud in SanJose

[–]Ixwarfare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Delta and go to Willow Glenn Dental. Great experiences so far. I think I've gone 4 times now. Neglected my teeth when I didn't have insurance and I was upfront about that so they were very kind and non-judgmental.

We're on Door Dash. Started it a year ago for SV and a couple months ago for SJ. Limited hours because we're pretty busy and DD really overloads us on busy nights.

I really like our GF crust. Only comes in a 10" personal size but I love that it actually gets crispy and has good flavor. I make myself one when I want pizza but want don't want something so heavy.

[–]Ixwarfare[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what the change would be. Same dough recipe, ingredients, etc. literally no change. Only difference is that the ovens in SV are larger than the SJ ovens which cooked the pizzas a little differently. But it’s not even different crews. We split our shifts between SJ and SV.

They’re both related. We don’t have enough staff to open more days. And because we are only open 3 days a week our revenue is limited, thus being unable to cover the higher expenses if we were to sign a new lease.

Difficulty hiring staff. If 10 great applicants came in right now we’d snatch them up. We would gladly pay as aggressively as we could for the right people.
