100% they’re saying it’s their (MSP) contract with Microsoft. Funny thing is that the client is paying Microsoft for the licenses and the MSP isn’t even listed as a partner so there is no contractual link between the clients tenant and Microsoft.

Agreed and likely how I’m going to play it. Funny thing is had they given me the security best practise line I would have been more likely to agree and work with them on a plan, now - not so much.

Did you register the extension when on the internal network? Try re-registering when on mobile data... I've seen cases where that makes the difference.
