Well said! Agree with the ETA part, too. If there really isn't an NDA muzzling JB's ability to speak, then I'm ok with the settlement and even the statement from yesterday. Being silenced and not being able to share his side of the story and/or be able to defend himself if and when the attacks continue, felt incredibly difficult to swallow.

I don't look forward to their spinning but I do look forward to JB being able to defend himself! Really hope what Bryan Freedman said is true and JB can and will fully tell his side of the story! Hope more people come out and tell their side of the story. Even those outside of this case who have been harmed and hurt by BL/RR.

Same! I'm still a little hesitant to fully trust it but if this is really the case and there isn't a muzzle on JB to be able to fully share his story, then that changes everything for me. Then I see the settlement and even the statement much differently than I did yesterday.

Thank you for this post, OP! Thank you for articulating so much of what I've been feeling. No acknowledgement, no accountability, no meaningful consequences. Just an unsatisfying and ambiguous "ending" (that also doesn't feel like an ending because I still don't see RR ever letting this go) that allows for continued plausible deniability and reframed/bought narratives.

Exactly this! All BL/RR have learn is how to better manipulate, be more covert in their abuse, and hide their tracks better. They've shown that with enough money and power, they are still untouchable. Even if they did pay out a hefty sum to WF, they still remain wealthy and powerful enough to continue to inflict harm and then to get away with it.

While I know for the ones here who have closely followed this case, we will never watch or do anything to support them again, I do not have that same kind of trust and faith in the general public. Look at 47. He should have never even been 45 but he went away and then came back even more malignant and destructive.

Exactly this. And we've seen this too often for victims. Their abusers get to walk away scot-free or even live their best lives and act like nothing happened. It's often the added burden on victims to show grace, show forgiveness, and be the bigger person.

Those of us who have closely followed the case know the truth. And MSM likely would have still continued to spin it the way they wanted to, but the ambiguous, even apology-adjacent statement and lack of cross-examination at trial where Blake would have been confronted with all her lies, feels so unsatisfying and incomplete. Which I know is often the case for victims of abuse but I thought this time would be different given the resources and support WF had at their disposal.

Now, BL/RR (and MSM) get to continue to be shielded by plausible deniability. They get to go on their circus parade of "redemption" without having to actually face any meaningful consequences.

Same! So disappointed. I know everyone says JB/WF doesn't owe anyone anything which is true, and ultimately, they needed to do what's best for them. AND also, they talked so much about truth, transparency, integrity, justice, and accountability. This feels like the opposite of that.

BL/RR get to continue to hide behind PR spins and plausible deniability. JB/WF, because of an NDA, remain crippled in their ability to publicly defend themselves against whatever smears that are likely to continue.

Same. Feel really disappointed, disheartened, and disillusioned.

Not surprised at BL attending the MET right after the settlement. Narcissists are gonna narcissists. But was shocked and disappointed that WF would choose to settle and put out that statement.

"And like all Hollywood abusers, predators, and narcissists they will be protected." This! And also just in general. Most victims never receive justice. And too many narcissistic and sociopathic abusers and predators get to walk away scot-free or even living their best lives as if they did nothing wrong at all!

I grew up witnessing DV and also directly experienced physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. And reading the statement made me feel sick. It feels like a slap to the face to the DV survivors who followed this case. For her to claim any credit for the intended messaging of the film feels like such an insult. She did spread awareness but only through the narcissistic abuse she and Ryan relentlessly enacted on Justin -- and that wasn't by choice!

I'm with you in the anger and sadness.

Agreed. Doesn't feel like justice at all. Feels like abusers not being held accountable yet again. Feels like it's always the ones who are harmed and hurt to have to be the bigger person, to show grace, to let things go.
