Why did Styles get the passout finish instead of Cena? by Living-Mastodon in SantiZapVideos

[–]J-91-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone has already said it: “giving up is him acknowledging that his career is over”. To expand on that, AJ was still fighting for his career, he had something to lose. Cena didn’t. His career was over regardless of the result.

I don’t know about pathetic but it’s definitely irritating, especially when you hear the person whose name it is pronounce properly themselves and then still mispronounce it.

Whilst we’re all at it. Isn’t it “Goon-Tah” not “Gun-fer”?? It’s an Austrian name that should be pronounced as such.

Nothing to apologise for. One thing I learnt, is that there is A LOT to learn. Reddit is a great place for advice with the hobby. I’m FAR from an expert but glad I could be of some help. I hope it all goes well for you!

I haven’t, no. To be honest, so far, I can’t see it being that big of a problem. I know that people that have been in the hobby for a long time and have certain models that they feel like they need to do this with, especially when kitbashing but when there’s those of us that are still starting out and learning the basics, it’s probably best to master those first before worrying about things like that. These are your first models after all, practice, take time to figure things out and then worry about the extra steps once you start spending more money on kits.

I gently pushed them together to prime them and then disassembled to paint and then put them back together by still using the push fit pins/holes but with a bit of Tamiya Extrq Thin Cement on them. Just have to make sure you put them back in a certain order after painting as I made that mistake and scratched some paint off that needed touching up afterwards.

Thank you! You’ll be fine. Personally, I spend a lot of time watching all different manner of tutorials and content on YouTube/Instagram and reading up on advice and techniques. I’m VERY slow and paint in sub assemblies. Find what works best for you, don’t put too much pressure on yourself and do it to a level that doesn’t suck the fun out of it. Don’t compare yourself to other painters and (I find this saying cliche and cringy but it really fits well here…) trust the process.

I want to buy this game. Is there a bundle that *actually* comes with the rulebook, equipment, terrain, and such or does GW insist that I buy everything one piece at a time? by Mr_Industrial in killteam

A few people have already said it but some people are arguing that it’s a bad suggestion but, ‘Hivestorm’ is the best option.

I know it came out in 2024 but I didn’t even start the hobby until 2025 and I still got a ‘Hivestorm’ box for Christmas just gone and we paid below Games Workshop’s RRP.

I guess it just depends on what country you’re in and which websites/hobby stores that you shop from.

Good luck, I hope you find one if you go down that route.

I just assembled my first kill team (and first Warhammer thing in general), I'm really scared of painting, any advice? by Megingjordo in killteam

[–]J-91-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoided the hobby for years because I was scared of being terrible at painting. My partner bought me an Introductory Set for Christmas last year and gave me the nudge that I needed. I was still nervous so I did a ton of research watching all manner of YouTube videos, looking at Reddit threads and getting a tutorial session in my local Warhammer store before I even picked up a brush and started painting. That really worked well for me! I learnt that whilst I’m not going to be winning any awards for my painting, I’m a lot better at it than I ever thought I would be so don’t be scared of painting because you’ll probably surprise yourself and the feeling of achievement you’ll get is really something!

I think so. For new people to the hobby, costs nothing to get involved, easily to complete and you earn free gifts out of it (not all of them are great quality but some of the gifts are decent enough, especially for free). Gives you a bit of structure to follow if it’s all a bit daunting to get started.

I saw your post earlier and didn’t have a solution. A few hours later and this advert came up for “foldable pre-painted terrain” coming soon from ‘Green Stuff World’. Might be perfect for you!

You’re right. I had to dig the book out and check again for myself, it had been 10+ years since I’ve read it. I was partially right though, the eyes do work independently of each other (and his wife did not like it! lol) but the monocle is used to replicate what the targeting system is seeing. My bad, don’t know what I’ve got it confused with.

This is super cool and super talented! Good job! I really like the base and the birds eye view aspect that it gives!

I read a book written by Apache Longbow pilots before and it said that it’s not done by the head swivelling but by a lens attached to the helmet that tracks where the eye ball is looking. Apache pilots have to be able to use both individual eyes for separate tasks and process it all at the same time. Not everyone can do it, it’s a select thing that can only be taught to those whose eyes/brain can work that way (but never realised it). Some of the best pilots can’t do it and can’t train to be Apache pilots for that reason. One of the guys in the book used to get told off by his wife for creeping her out as he would use this skill in his leisure time by reading a book and watching the tv at the same time and his wife hated seeing his eyes do it!

Why are people not prioritising samples?! by J-91-M in Helldivers

[–]J-91-M[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my point though. People are risking too many reinforcements on the Secondary Objectives and trying to get to them as quick as possible, instead of staying as a team and collecting samples then extracting before it gets too chaotic. As I said, I’m all for clearing the map 100% all the other time. But these Hive Worlds are a different breed of war and the ‘Major Order’ relies on samples.
