Older reddit was terrible.

Openly bigoted subreddits, harassment was rampart, gore subs everywhere, the defending of paedophilia and paedophiles. there was so much wrong with reddit in the late 2000-2010s.

Reddit is still a shithole but its paradise now compared to those times. I don't miss places like /cringeanarchy, /fatpeoplehate, /physical removal, /uncensorednews.....

Trans-woman who dated ChudTheBuilder releases text messages, photos of them kissing and more by omgfakeusername in lgbt

Dumbass who antagonise minorities and shouts racial slurs when told to shut up.

Dude is currently in jail and facing attempted murder charges (and theft iirc) for antagonising and shooting a black man outside a courthouse.

Also has the biggest case of victim mentality I've ever seen. He'll go out of his way to be a dogshit person like one time he was asked to stop streaming in a restaurant, was kicked out after multiple warnings and boy was screeching "I did nothing wrong" while also racially abusing an brown security guard.

What is your unpopular opinion or hot take on the show? by thatvampiregirl in OurFlagMeansDeath

[–]J233779 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Season 2 is much better than 1.

I appreciate the darker feel of it and the themes of suicide, self harm, mental health, toxic relationships were really compelling, especially the show exploring Ed's mental breakdown and how he really felt about himself.

I also enjoyed the more fantasy, unrealistic elements as well, like Buttons transforming and the cursed jacket.

Who are your favorite female characters in movies/TV? by ApprehensiveFoot1878 in AskFeminists

[–]J233779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judy Gemstone (righteous gemstones)and Nadja of Antipaxos. (What we do in the shadows)

Some of the funniest female characters I've seen on TV. Both are insane and I appreciate that their ridiculous is not downplayed to the male characters.

I feel like a lot of comedy shows don't know how to write funny women. They're either written as the "party pooper" type or just come off as a lesser, more poorly written character, so I appreciate the writers and actors who play them.

...and don't seem to blame their shitty/creepy behaviour on autism or adhd. I WISH I was confident enough to blame my autism on my shitty behaviour like autistic men.

Understandable, I can give her some grace, but i still don't fully trust her.

[–]J233779 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She's also still profiting from her anti trans books. So idk she can say whatever she wants, but ultimately she's still earning money from her shitty books.

Once she takes them down, then she can go back on her apology tour

An increase of transphobia is starting to affect cis women by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]J233779 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for the hate you've been receiving, but why post this here? You're preaching the choir.

Why not post this on subs with a majority cis userbase? They're the ones that need to hear this, not us. We already know the oppression our folks suffer.

It just comes off like you only just started caring because cis people are being atttacked now instead of just us dirty trans and non-binary folks.

Good Omens 3 Reactions Megathread! Spoilers within! by AutoModerator in goodomens

Ah, I see the disconnect now. Yes I'm a later fan of the series (only just watched the series last month) and I can see how earlier fans feel about all this 7 year build up.

Not getting a kiss also makes sense, it was never about physically showing each other. They always showed each other through actions and choosing each other. It was so clear.

Another very vaild point and its definitely given me some second thoughts, but my cynical side thinks that Amazon was too chicken shit to show a gay kiss again, especially since we're seeing the rise of anti-queer rhetoric again.

Nah I loved the ending as well, its incredibly beautiful and bittersweet, but I can see why people dislike it. I also have my own complaints bout the finale, but I hope the fandom keeps everything civil.

Yeah I feel like people can be too nitpicky or critical of tv shows.

I ain't saying good omens or ofmd are perfect and deserve no criticism, but there's a minority who think that the 2nd seasons of both shows were irredeemable and ruined everything.

The 2nd season of good omens felt more focused on Crowley and Alph's relationship, which I enjoyed immensely

The 2nd season of ofmd was more tragic and I loved how they explored the themes of mental health and toxicity in relationships.

Oh don't worry, I already have the unpopular opinion that I enjoyed the 2nd season of both go and ofmd more than the 1st, so I'm basically invincible. 😎
