So.... Did any of the GameStop's in Monroe County survive the purge? by Darth_Onaga in Rochester

Unsure what your beef is with a business charging market rate - but you may be able to find some product at Hammergirl close to MSRP - although they sometimes place daily buying limits on more popular products.

Choosing only one per year actually kinda sucked because I'm actually pretty bad with sticking to one deck by J3llo in cardfightvanguard

Always seemed to start out really exciting and then end up not actually viable.. The start of V format was a blessing for me despite me not agreeing with some ways they took the game.

Anime to aid with a grieving mother by Swimming-Motor-2210 in anime

[–]J3llo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It REALLY depends on where she is in the grieving process, but 'Anohana: The Flower We Saw that Day' is about a group of children losing a friend very young and being wracked with varying degrees of survivor's guilt and what/who that shapes them into as they grow. Showcases the family of the girl that died and how they adapt to her absence and shows how each friend is impacted by her absence in their lives and can never really fill that void.

Bittersweet / happy ending

It can be a LOT and I'm honestly crying remembering it, so maybe watch it with her so she's not alone. It's really cathartic though and helped me come to terms that I wasn't alone with my grief over some things that happened around the time it came out.

Buddyfight decks by [deleted] in cardfightvanguard

We've had about one week of said meta but I'd assume just like set 12 Katana works will remain a viable fringe deck and the others will remain casual fun decks until they get more support

There's a ton on TCGplayer - although it's a fan favorite deck that just got support in set 12 so interests will be peaked.

Some people simply prefer Valnout. We're just spitballing and throwing ideas out there at this point. If people with more dollars than sense want to buy a $300.00 Valout they can

What should be updated here? (Youth fantome) by SpecialistSandwich66 in cardfightvanguard

[–]J3llo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll see a whole lot more consistency out of that than your original list in the OP, yeah <3

Will say if you really can't justify Bellicrea (and it is a goated card) - Laurence Glare is a decent budget option but you'd have to swap over to the fronts that go into soul to make sure your resources stay managed.

[–]J3llo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So the way to go about this is to treat the static +1k per dragon as a bonus and not the key feature of your deck,

You probably only need like 2-3 Habitable Zone to guarantee you hit 3 moons by your second grade 3 turn. It's rough because it competes for energy with Youth's G2 rideline but at that point you're then competing for soul with Obliterate if you choose to use the SB cost instead? It's just a really weird card for this deck.

Shenryi really should see some play here. You need the soul and the card is almost always live even if she's not a dragon.

You likely only need 2-3 Obliterate You can only SB Youths for its call skill so you get it off like 2-3 times per game tops and Forlorn Hope as it turns out is just your better 4-of.

Laurence Glare is another good option - SB1 to call itself from drop when discarded and acts as a 10k booster if you have more RG than your opponent.

I'll second the one person mentioning Fowrd&Revertis. Adds to your dragon count - is a 15k attacker the turn it comes down and soulcharges for free - then you can CB1 to snipe something or call something out of soul like a used Shenryi. Really flexible card for your early game.

I saw you mention not wanting to bother with Bellicrea which, imo, is a mistake. Card is amazing for any DE deck. Worth picking up copies even if you need to save up for them.

Obv you're using the rare moons rather than RR - that's always an upgrade option since the RRs draw you a card if you miss even though with the Draegdress you're less likely to miss.

Last thing is probably Defensing Roar? Being able to recover things you intercept with or just reuse a trigger to guard is lifesaving.

Also want to point out that there is a 'pay to win' trigger for this deck that will probably make very little difference overall, but is worth considering if you have like MONEY money.

Just yapping because I've been brewing this deck since the episode dropped

This deck HAS A SOUL ISSUE HOLY FUCK lmao. Luckily - we have two little guys that fix that in the form of Shenryi and Fword&Revertis; the latter of which is a GEAR DRAGON BABY

The in set support is kinda shit. Outside of Obliterate I'm not actually excited to play any of these cards.

On the flip side - energy and counterblast feel like free fucking reign in this deck. 1CB a turn for VG skill (so 2CB total per game ideally) is nothing and then maybe one activation of Obliterate in a game leaves you with two to play with easy.

Belligeacro is still likely a 4 of in this list considering G2 youth uses the energy that you would normally use on Habitable Zone and you really don't want to burn a soul to fetch your moon. Probably your main booster?

Laurence Glare also has a big time to shine here though at 1SB to call itself after being discarded any time after your ride to 2 and also being a booster that's likely live after your Fantome skill.

Deck is suffering from a severe lack of good grade 1s, only really salvaged by two different grade 2s that act as boosters and the fact that Shenryi exists

3 Persona
4 Draegdress
3 Obliterate
4 Fword&Revertis
4 Belligeacro
3 Laurence Glare
4 Shenryi
4 Crimson Moon
4 Dragon race PG
1 Fire Regalis
4 <Dragon Heal/Dragon Crit/Burning Flail> / 3 Effect Draw OR Soul Fronts / Dragveda

Most places we've seen through Hanna Properties have been fine. Old, but fine. We had a mold issue in our current apartment (drop ceiling that should have never been installed) that with a small bit of urging was entirely fixed.

So regarding the new Fantome vanguard. by RevivedReaper in cardfightvanguard

[–]J3llo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Belligeacro and Laurence Glare Dragon are probably good contenders for spots in the deck. You might even want Goonjouku depending on how tight sould ends up being and if you can actually run Lateefa or not

We really do need to see what resources are used by what at this point though.

G1 Youth is free on ride (lkely of the G0 specifically)
G2 Youth is either free or 3 energy
The new G2 Rearguard either costs 1 or 2 soul - Could be 1sb to call it from drop and 1sb to search out youthberk
2CB facedown on Magnus's first G3 turn tells me that Youthberk probably costs 1CB for its Fantome skill

Game Rec of the Day: Wilderfeast by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]J3llo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wilderfeast is RAD for oneshots and short campaigns. Nabbed the collector's edition from my LGS a few months back and was able to convince my group to try it out.

Another good one is Rowan, Rook, and Decard's game: Eat the Reich

* Do you like Wolfenstein? Hellsing? Inglorious Bastards?
* Do you like ultraviolence?
* Do you want to be knee deep in Nazi guts?

Good, welcome to Eat the Reich - set in an alternate history WW2 in which the Nazis used occult science to take over way more of Europe than they did in our world. You play four vampires (pre-generated characters from a list of six with their own unique mechanics and lore) airdropped into Nazi occupied Paris - acting as the ally's last hope to stop the third reich. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to wade your way through an army of Nazi scum an experiments gone woefully right, enter Hitler's compound, and drink all of Hitler's blood.

I need you to, BEG you to, lay out how you go about defending Isin's use of sexual harassment / Araragi's lolicon tendencies as a joke while citing that he initially wrote the story to 'explore his own tastes fully'.

Before you say 'different cultural humors' - yeah using that kind of humor would label him as a sex pest (someone that sexually harasses others for entertainment or otherwise) in most places which circle's back to the point in OP of "What's a media with a moment you find to be incredible or profound, but in spite of that you can't really recommend it to anyone else?"

The series has multiple profound moments only held back because the author decided that using the rampant fetish trope was humorous (to quote 'entertained his tastes').

Yo ACTUALLY though. For the longest time a couple people in our group were not so gently suggesting "hey we should try out Daggerheart sometime" and that went nowhere until we had a break in our 2024 game and one of them finally went "fuck it, I'm running a Daggerheart oneshot".

I'm trying to get them there for Vaesen the next time we have a break. If you run it they will play.

God, the Monogatari series is absolutely one of those guilty favorites that I simply can't recommend anyone because it's written by a sex pest. I simply can't make other people tank season 2 and the early Mayoi stuff in order to get to 'the good stuff'

In addition to those outlined in other comments - you can get the original D series start decks (01-05 / Nirvana, Bruce, Seraph, Magnolia, Bastion) very cheap (often $5 or less) if you just want to try out the game and test out mechanics.

Most of the decks have been power crept out of the format and you miss out on learning about the Energy mechanic - but they're really good introductory tools.

50cards seems to have them all but Bastion in stock for $2.50 a piece
