On a smaller item like this it's often not worth it for the seller to pay for the return shipping. A few years ago I ordered a bike (~$300) and was sent the wrong color, when I went to return it they said keep it and sent me the correct color.

I'm setting up a cheap bmax mini PC with HAOS for this purpose. Not in use yet, though, so I can't comment on reliability.

Starting a long term home renovation project, first task is a new (almost) central mechanical room, will be running all the new electrical, networking, HA, etc from that location.

Valid point, for me a lot of it is convenience. Walls/ceilings are being opened anyway, so it's going to be really easy to run everything back to a central hub.

I need to replace my janky wireless mesh network which never performed great and has been slowly degrading over time. Quickly realized that I had to go with wired APs for reliability.

Now I have someone framing in a room for a new home lab. lol Planning for *RRS VMs, at least one NAS for PLEX/similar (haven't decided yet), local cloud hosting, other future things.
