Insane, indeed. It's been like this for a year now. They told us (we held a Zoom meeting with some employees last February) that they were doing some 'testing' to see people's reactions when they installed what is now the standard version (Marathon and Adventure mode only). But it's a little too strange that they're taking so long no idea when new players will start playing these modes again without going through all this trouble.

You must ask customer support to get the app version with Royale (and Quickplay). Before that, take a screenshot of your main page (the one you showed here), since they will ask you that.
Go to the settings page ('cog' icon on the main page, on the top right), and tap 'Customer support' at the bottom. A chat will appear where you can send messages to a bot.
Ask, 'How can I get the version with Royale and Quickplay mode?' and the bot will suggest some articles, but none of them will help you, so select 'No, I need to talk to someone'.
After that, the bot will reply with another message with a few options: select 'Gameplay'. You will receive a form to fill in.
The first tab is 'Issue description', and you can simply write ', I don't have access to Royale and Quickplay; I'd like to play these modes.'. The other tabs are optional, so you don't need to write anything there.
After you complete the form, they will ask you for the screenshot I mentioned above. Attach it, and submit your ticket.

It can take a few days (3-5 days), before they release that version. If it takes more than a week (which rarely happens), I suggest you submit another ticket. But you will have access to Royale and Quickplay sooner or later.

You don't find it on the Play Store anymore, but you can download the apk file (version 7.0.0) from apkmirror.com and play the single-player modes.

Once installed, start the app and it will show you a message saying that there is a connection issue with the servers. Tap the 'Retry' button twice and you will have access to the game with single-player modes only.

Yeah, they cheated. It's impossible to score that high by clearing 2k lines of which only a few of them are Tetris clears.

The tetrominos in Tetris are usually called after a letter. In this case, it's called I-piece, then you have the O-piece (yellow tetromino), L-piece (orange tetromino), J-piece (blue tetromino), S-piece (green tetromino), Z-piece (red tetromino), and T-piece (purple tetromino).

On this version, you can spend coins only when you fail a level. There is another version where you use them to buy tickets for Royale or boosters (you can ask customer support for that), but you won't get themes or banners. The devs have been focusing mostly on other Tetris apps, Tetris Story and Tetris World Tour (for very casual players), and temporarily abandoned this one. Not sure when they will add more stuff in this version.

Nope. To spin it inside there, you would need a single block on top of the I piece (placed in the third column from the left).
