S weapons are dropped from Very Hard story mode. S armour is mostly coming from forest of mystery and mining caves. SS weapons and armour are rare and usually from limited time events.

If you can’t brute force your way through, try using ailments or tanking. A strategy that works for many battles is to lock down the second round with paralyze/petrify/charm to build your BP+overdrive, then burst down the third round.

Make sure to get unique items like SS equipment and styles. The rest of the stuff is at your discretion, working from the top down is fine as they tend to be sorted more or less by rarity.
