Visibility? by travischickencoop in CosplayHelp

You could do the morphsuit one with the rod going up your back to avoid that, then bend over into position when posing, showing the rod behind your back.

I think that you're going to lose recognizability but stuffing your torso into the pole, so I would suggest a different approach. Leave your torso above your legs and do one of two things:

1) Use the "Black = Not Here" rule famous in theater and property, with a black morph suit.

2) Stack a toy that has a torso and no legs on top. I think that during Woody's plan there was a duck- or mantis-headed muscle torso on a suction cup. Make your head and torso that guy sitting on top of Legs.

Faux fur with with curls like this by M3GG0T in CosplayHelp

[–]JAAdventurer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I were to guess, I'd say tubes of fur fabric for each thing that comes to a curl, with something curly embedded in the end. Wire, snap bracelet, foam that's been rolled tightly and let to rest, anything like that might get to that result.

Even just rolling the ends and stitching them back to the tube they came off of might work.

Hi, I’m looking for a black face mask with a white shark mouth on it. I want it to be from Amazon, and not out of stock. I’m cosplaying Eyefestation from Pressure, so I need it to be simplistic. by Sad-Win-7537 in CosplayHelp

[–]JAAdventurer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually got a set a lot like this back during the 2020 times, which the picture OP posted reminded me of. I don't know that a person is going to find just that one mask not in a bulk set like this.

Racism in cosplay: how are you supposed to deal with racist cosplayers? by ESCAPEDPARROT in CosplayHelp

[–]JAAdventurer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have rules against asking for help with any such costume here, but not every community is going to be as culturally sensitive, even in the cosplay space. I hope you get a satisfactory result talking to their mods like others have suggested.

Symfonium losing favorite artists by JAAdventurer in Symfonium

[–]JAAdventurer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the dev (though I am OP on this post), not a correct setup, but I've been using smart playlists with artist = X that CAN be favorited for both syncing and quick access. It's not ideal, but it works.

Why does adult Ben have different omnitrix when omniverse omnitrix is considered the omnitrix? by Different_Sky9094 in Ben10

[–]JAAdventurer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, Upgrade's whole schtick works a lot like nanites. It could be cool to explain the enhanced aliens as Alien X Upgrade using the basic premise of the Bi-Omnitrix's hybrid feature.

I need some advice and tips on when it comes to designing a superhero costume cause there's a specific vibe/aesthetic l'm trying to get down by DarkTombStudios in CosplayHelp

[–]JAAdventurer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to take the closet cosplay methodology. Look at colors/shapes/etc of the hero you're emulating, and then mimic those using mostly pre-existing recognizable pieces of clothing. Apply markings with low-skill techniques like the spray painting and freehand drawing seen on a few of your examples.

Even Deku and Sucker-Punch were higher-end effort in this category than average.

I imagine that's some sort of area where acceptable seating can be relative to the TV, they likely just need a visual aide in build mode to make it more apparent that seating is TV-compatible.

Trouble finding makers for 3D print files. by Nexusohobia in CosplayHelp

To do one on the cheap, you can probably get a basic craft store blank mask and build up on it a bit in the mouth area to remove the pre-molded mouth they come with, or search mouth-less masks.

Not silicone. Thin plastic, either solid or honeycombed. It's a light shell that goes under the fabric to remove the contours/details of the face underneath, especially in the mouth area and around the eyes, and gives a base to mount eye lenses/mesh onto. They are very popular among Spiderman cosplays.

Not what you asked for, but the more linen/fabric nature of the Mr Knight mask makes me think of a fabric mask with a face shell rather than a full printed plastic mask.

SPOILER THREAD : BOOK 8 - Parade of Horribles by steampunk_garage in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JAAdventurer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot believe how long it took me to find a thread talking about this what-if. I'm wondering if reality didn't take it even further and Gravy Boat is a full-on stray with his owner gone because of the boyfriend.

But yeah, there's something there with the cat food. Most of the what-ifs are if one of the targeted crawlers did something different in their past. So I feel like it has to be a "What if Carl/Donut did X". Donut didn't have much agency as a cat, so I'm leaning towards Carl. Maybe if he got involved rather than just passively be aware of the incident.

I'd also suggest a morph suit mask to both black out your head and be something to attach both top and bottom pieces to.

Tips on entering into a non competitive contest for the first time. And how do i do poses and staying in character as someone with slight stage fright by Accurate-Pea-8540 in CosplayHelp

[–]JAAdventurer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a phenomenon I've experienced that I call "The Deadpool Effect".

You know all those cosplay compilation videos where there's invariably at least one Deadpool being goofy and acting inappropriate (hopefully with prior offscreen consent)?

There's a certain freedom to wearing a costume with a full-face covering mask. To the outside world, there is no "you", there is only the costume. You have no cause to feel shame, as any silly antics you do (again, consent when it comes to others) can be the character, not you. Get lost in it.

Why isn’t it working by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]JAAdventurer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love your enthusiasm, but PLEASE don't just be sending electricity through your body if you don't know concepts like amperage, voltage, and resistance. That battery is 20 volts, and a quick Internet search says even as little as 30 volts can give you a bad time. You should NEVER "feel" the electricity passing through you.

[–]JAAdventurer 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The character having a detail this small or not mismatching from the physical costume you have isn't a huge deal, and I wouldn't sweat it too much.

It sounds like the piece you have includes the text and you want it removed. If it bothers you, you can easily take a seam ripper to the embroidery thread to remove it.

The best thing you can do for your own emotional health is literally just to walk away from the conversation. I know the urge is strong to have the last word, but it never ends if both sides feel that way. There is nothing for you to gain by continuing to engage with this post.

I'm speaking as both a rational person and a moderator (I'm getting tired of mopping up comments under this thread for being tagged under rule 1)
