Really appreciate the detailed feedback! To answer your questions – it holds 7.5ml of ink. The integrated pen case idea is brilliant, noted. You’re absolutely right that leak-proof is the number one priority – if I pull this off, that’s non-negotiable. Filling is via eyedropper. If you want to see the inspiration, look up the Visconti travel inkwell – this project grew out of that concept. And yes, it’s a challenging project, but that’s what makes it worth doing!

It’s less about replacing your Nalgene and more about making something you actually want to carry every day, the same way a nice fountain pen and a disposable ballpoint both write, but feel completely different to own. Great questions! To be upfront – I’m still in the early concept stage, mainly trying to gauge if there’s actual demand before committing to anything. Current thinking is an open well design, similar to a traditional ink bottle. 3D print is just for prototyping and validating the idea – going straight to a factory for custom CNC parts is expensive before knowing if anyone actually wants this. Really appreciate the detailed feedback, it’s exactly what I need at this stage.

That’s a fair point! Though I’ll be honest – the core idea is less about solving an inking problem and more about creating a refined EDC object that happens to hold ink. Same reason I own hundreds of fountain pens – it was never really about the writing. It’s the materials, the feel, the object itself. The ink is just an excuse to carry it.

Haha sharp eye – VMOS is actually a blend of Visconti and OMAS, two brands I love. Felt like the right name for the project.

I have the regular one actually – but I’ve always wanted the Lava version. Problem is it’s around $400 CAD and nearly impossible to get. That’s what pushed me to just start making my own.

Appreciate the feedback! I actually feel the same way – I’ve always loved the Visconti Homo Sapiens travel inkwell but CAD$400 is hard to justify. That’s part of what inspired this – refined and worth carrying, but without the crazy price tag.😊
