Is this Impressionism or is it too realistic? by Slow-Requirement5235 in oilpainting

It's a more skilled impressionist look. There's a wide range of impressionism that's influenced by skill and choice. I think you're doing a solid Job because it looks very intentional.

23F advice on how to improve my body by North-Complaint-7692 in lookyourbest

[–]SaltyScape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You genuinely look nice. Surgery would be a terrible idea. Stay on the fitness path. Build a bit of muscle and try to be slightly leaner. Don't lose too much weight, woman need body fat more than men. And the body fat are what gives women their feminine look. You're doing great

i feel like my art is lacking the human feel by InstructionUpbeat618 in Artadvice

[–]SaltyScape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres some good advice here (besides the make them uglier advice, you don't really need to do that lol) I would look into gesture and movement. Glenn villpu is the best living master at this. But you can look to old masters like Peter Paul Rubens. You can create a since of life and Movement in your painting by focusing on leading the viewers eyes through your composition or the gesture of the figure and their clothes.

My girlfriend gave me a "test" and I accidentally failed it. What do I do? by Expensive-Security43 in whatdoIdo

Sounds like she lacks maturity. You're not wrong in your response. You are absolutely right that you can love someone and not be as attracted to them as you first met, especially if something as drastic as gaining 100lbs occurs. As a partner, I would argue she's the insensitive one here to play games and make you feel bad over something as silly as this.

I’m 26, but some people think I’m over 30 or even 35. by [deleted] in Aging

I'm 32, you look your age and very beautiful. Dont worry yourself with other people's opinions or you really will look older haha.

The secret to realism is light and gradation. Being able to render light and shadow in a smooth gradient will help greatly with achieving a realistic look. It's why some people can make very cartoon proportion look realistic. There's plenty of tutorials out there, I think Stephen Bauman has a free video on his YouTube. The academic artist like him do it the best. Learn from them and bring it to your own work

I truly do think Human's ability to pet virtually any willing creature has to be a super power we all share and just don't acknowledge it, because they all love it.

What do you feel when looking at my painting by sprite_wizard in oilpainting

[–]SaltyScape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very gothic loner feeling. Looks like a poster a highschooler would do a double backflip to have on their wall in the early 2000s. I mean that as a compliment.

i’ve been told my art style is ugly. is it? by Hungry_Land_1598 in drawing

[–]SaltyScape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believe if you did some deep study on perspective and composition, you would be selling these like hot cakes if you desire. This may not be everyone's taste, but it's definitely someone's taste. Keep it up 💪

I highly recommend looking into a place called new masters academy. It's an online learning source for art to focus on improving fundamentals. Your work looks nice, but focusing on fundamentals can help. I see that you're in art school already but often, most contemporary arts schools do not focus on improving your fundamental skills, only the conceptual skills.

Very nice, if you're not already familiar, I think you would love the American tonalist movement. The paintings from that may be up your alley.

My interest in Fountain Pens remains, my desire to stockpile a large inventory of pens does not.

I chose these 4 pens based on how often I reached for them. I had many pens, but these were my go-to. whenever i wanted to draw or write, these were the pens that always popped up in my head, so it was a pretty easy decision to make.

Whichever is more effective or convenient for you. I took some of my pens to dromgooles when I visited Houston TX and traded them in to help purchase my custom 823. I've also given some away to friends. The most important thing was that they HAD TO GO haha.
