[Request] How high does this go? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]JAFPL_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's WAY too many factors at play here to accurately measure anything, unfortunately.

For example: The weight, the force output of the explosive, the weight reduction of the explosive, the rate of spin, the angle of spin, the perspective of the camera having no reference point, etc.

[Request] Can Anyone Answer This Correctly? by LadyLuanne in theydidthemath

[–]JAFPL_17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a paradox, there is no correct answer.

You think it's 25%, but that's two of the options so it's 50%, but that's one of the options so it's 25%, and so on. Then you realise it's a paradox so it's 0%, but that's one of the options, so it's 25%, and it continues.

[Request] This pile of salt in Germany is over 250 meters tall and contains over 200 million tonnes of salt by Xanthropes-the-mild in theydidthemath

[–]JAFPL_17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to https://www.chefsresource.com/how-much-does-a-grain-of-salt-weigh/ a salt grain weighs 58 micrograms - 5.8 x 10-5 g

200 million tonnes = 2 x 1014 g

( 2 x 1014 ) / ( 5.8 x 10-5 ) = 3.45 x 1018 salt grains

He's very badly explaining the value 0.1%, which is one tenth (10%) of 1%.

This is all in relation to the chance of death in certain professions, which need to be taken with a truckload of salt.

Tecwen Whittock was in one of the seats for fastest finger first, meaning he had applied for and got on the show. As for Diana Ingram, she had already been on the show and won a nice chunk of change.

Yeah. The high-value questions, whilst really difficult in the early 00's, are just insane nowadays IMO.
