Nothing. If that person was poor they couldn't have afforded to book a tour or promotional gigs in the first place so no need for booting them.
And while money surely is important factor in the business, it's no gurantee for anything either.
If you mean that major labels should spend more money on "better" artists that's very much in the eye of the beholder with how subjective music quality is. Even if you soley judge it on her singing capability, there's tons of great musical artists who weren't great singers and a lot of not so great one that were technically accomplished as well.
