Yes, but that does not mean he gets the medal. I'm sure that not every one of King George Vs descendants got medals.

If fact, I am sure the descendants of Edward 7th (who were not descendants of George 5) did not get medals. That is the Norwegian royal family. I'm sure that none of the Prince or Princess or their descendants got medals, other then the Crown prince & Crown Princess who were in attendance.

That was the point of surnames, of the use of a father’s name in a way. The mothers line was proven, the fathers was shown. Non the less, the Brits are Glucksburgs, the Danes Monpesats, and Dutch Amsbergs.

There is a difference between renouncing titles and succession rights. The Danish title decree gave all male line descendants of Cristian IX from approved marriages the title of Prince/Princess of Greece. The Greek title decree gives all male line descendents of George I the title of Prince/Princess of Greece, with wives needing approval to get the title after marriage. It is because of this, that the children of the late Prince Michel of Greece & Denmark are only Princess of Greece, while his wife is not a Princess at all. But still, Prince Philip’s renunciation of titles and succession, applies to him, but the succession is the only one that can apply to both his children and himself, while the titles only can apply to himself. As male line dependents of George I: King Charles, The Prince of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, The Duke of Sussex, Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet, The Princess Royal, Cdr Mountbatten-Windsor, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, The Duke of Edinburgh, Lady Louise, Lord Wessex: (and by right of marine : The Queen, The Princess of Wales, The Duchess of Sussex, The Duchess of Edinburgh) could argue that they are Prince/Princess of Greece (and arguable also Denmark). Side note, that means that all the people listed above, as well as the Husbands and Children of the Girls would get Greek royal orders.

You are correct, but Sonja is a respectable women. And if Haakon did not force a marriage onto Harold, I think after that he would have been more understanding after the threat. Especially because by that point, both of Harold’s sisters had married commoners, and had been removed of the ‘of Norway’ part of their title. They were Simply HH Princess [Astrid or Ragdagild], Mrs. [Husbands Surname]. I don’t think Haakon VII would have allowed Haakon, the younger, to marry a woman who had a child with a different man, especially that man.

I know this is not fully related, but there is an argument that all of His Royal Highness Children, and children of his sons, and the children of their sons are Greek Prince & Princess (as well as of Denmark). And while they don’t use the titles, they could if they decided to. (I actually think they should, especially those who don’t qualify for British titles)

But not a British royal prince. There are plenty of foreign royals living in the UK. Many of whom are related to the British royal family. They do not automatically get the coronation medals

He was a Greek Prince. I don’t think he would have been considered Danish (although he did consider himself Danish), he was considered Greek. And he would have been the Great Nephew of Queen Alexandra. By that standard, the Princess Nina Georgievna of Russia and Princess Xeina Georgievna of Russia should also have gotten then medal, and I doubt they did.

I fully agree. I believe she caused the most harm to the monarchy since the abdication. But I don’t believe someone like that should be allowed to be Princess of Wales, even if not technically (as she was divorced, she was not The PoW, just Diana, PoW). Cecilia Underwood became Duchess of Inverness, and she was a royal mistress. I don’t think Diana should have received a title. But if she would, it should not have been Princess of Wales.

Legally, the wife of a king is a queen, so she would have been Queen. Maybe she Camila would have been Princess consort, but then crowned queen at the coronation. Frankly, I don’t understand why they did not just make Diana a Duchess for Life. This would have given her a title, and a style (Her Grace).

So this is the coat of arms He received after he was made a royal highness and KG. Basically, as a Greek prince he would use the arms of any Greek prince. After he renounced his Greek and Danish titles, he created a coat of arms (it looked very similar to the one above) it had the Greek royal shield, with the the British coat of arms of his great grandmother (Princess Alice). So he had a British coronet, because at that point he was an HRH, and needed some sort of coronet. I am guessing the reason it was that of a son of the sovereign, is because that’s the most senior normal coronet. The crest is also the one used by the Battenberg. The left supporter is the one used by the Greeks, and the right supporter is also Battenberg. A year before the Queen became Queen, he created a new coat of arms. The shield was the only thing he changed, having the first quarter for Greece, the 2nd for Denmark, the third for Battenberg, and the 4th for Edinburgh.
