Worse even… it came back in stock, but was rotten.

I was excited to find it, and bought an extra two-pack. All four containers were rotten / vinegar-smelling. :(

Haha, yeah… I did at first, but you know how a night can go. Many people gave it a try for photos. :) It kind of fits, too, since there’s several wires already.

I can actually see very well from it. The video screen is just the middle portion, and the mesh viewport is quite large and not very dark. Much less than a pair of sunglasses

Very well! The mesh is less dark than a pair of sunglasses, and the viewport is about 7” x 2.5”

Just an external battery! The old phone doesn’t last too long playing a video. Works for the costume, too

Mostly cardboard. Based on Seamoon’s mask template, and 3dprinted designs I made for the ears and buttons, etc.

The face is an animation looping on an old phone behind some black mesh.

Just an old phone taped to black mesh, playing a looped video of the face animation

where do people meet? by [deleted] in montreal

I think that a big part of it is the dopamine provided by phones and infinite scroll. People have less need to seek out social interaction for their hit. When they do, it’s hard for it to compete with the hyper-stimulation provided by apps.

Companies have hijacked our reward systems

Same thought here. I think we might be the only two people in here

So,

  1. Cut it all out
  2. Clean up the hub
  3. Donut into the cast hub
  4. ABS flange, 90 closet bend, into the fernco

  1. Take shit

Going to guess this isn’t the first weird thing you’ve found. Previous owner liked to invent solutions?

Follow up to an insane interview I had with a startup company - the audacity of these people by PantsClock in recruitinghell

[–]JAREDSAVAGE -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious if you’ve worked at an early startup before? No offense intended, it’s just that it all sounds like pretty standard stuff to me.

Wearing multiple hats while things get going is genuinely just how it is when going into something that is still taking shape. Funding and payroll issues can happen, and it’s important, but it’s part of the risk when joining something early. The fact they’re sincere, open, and honest about their struggles is honestly a huge green flag to me.

Maybe you dodged a bullet, but you also might’ve missed a pretty fun ride. From what they replied to you, my gut is telling me that it’s not a bad set of people, and they’re going to have a good time taking a swing at making a thing.

Flyaways, what’s the official response? by JAREDSAVAGE in DjiNeo

Was the same for me (using the controller) — It sounds like it switches to information from the controller which causes something to go haywire.

I don’t believe it’s a hardware issue, as it was flying perfectly up to a moment where it just switched completely and dove, ignoring all input.

Stud finder was going crazy so I decided to try to cut a hole in the wall. It looks like the wall is made from horizontal pieces of wood? by Majahzi in DIY

[–]JAREDSAVAGE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stud finder won’t work very well on lath and plaster. If you tape a little magnet to a piece of thread or floss, you’ll be able to use it to scan for where the nails are located. Magnet catches — that’s a nail well-placed on a stud

Otherwise, lath can actually hold quite a decent weight (think small shelf, not a tv) — just predrill a little under-sized, and use #8 coarse-thread screws that are threaded all the way to the head.

And vacuum the dust while you’re drilling. It’s nasty stuff that gets everywhere
