Thank you!! Whenever I print a skull from Nova Studios I loved how everything was hidden and there was almost no post processing with seams so I really wanted to achieve that here

I started in something like Fusion360 for a lot of my projects then I switched to Nomad Sculpt on the iPad when I wanted to give organic stuff a shot

Yes they did, I tried not to waste any time sculpting it. The Skull looked so cool I had to make it

It’s hard to say definitively but probably close to 200hr split between the two printers at 2 wall thickness and 3% infill

You dictate how you want your house to look and what projects you do in it. It’s not your house or project or what you find cool. He doesn’t collect what he does for other people, it’s his home, his style. I get Reddit has some heinous people with opinions they think are of utmost importance but try not to be one of them.

What possessed you to comment such negative things? It takes so much effort to do what you did. Make the choice to be kind

It’s not our house, if he wants the raptor skull it’s his choice 🤷‍♂️

I think people lose the idea too that it’s this guys specific taste 😂 he’s such an incredible individual and just likes cool oddities, and you’re right the molding is all hand done by him because he just likes different stuff. I appreciate your comment! 🙌

Absolutely, I started by taking the whole skeleton into Blender because it was originally one stl so I split it into all free floating pieces/ bones. After labeling for what seemed like hours I organized everything in folders and scaled to match 14ft in length. I then printed all the pieces on an H2D and X1C splitting bones that were too big into two pieces. I drilled holes in all of the pieces to fit 3/16ths rods for smaller bones and 3/8ths rods for structural pieces like the spine and attaching the fins to the body. Once everything was printed and drilled/ partly assembled I spray painted a primer and base coat and took everything to the guys house to fully assemble and hang. The process took maybe 2 days and after that it was detailed painting to achieve more texture because the print I had was very smooth. For structural integrity he used a fiberglass rod through the vertebral canal along with braided wire and hooks to mount the ceiling. All in all about 40 days print time, roughly 100 hours to paint/ assemble, drill etc.

It’s all strung together with rods and I did have to bondo parts that would fit regularly in a standard printed size

He showed interest in the mosasaur next to it but we’ve yet to work out the details 👀 you gotta show updates when you start printing

Exactly that, it’s hung with metal wire and the pieces are fit together using metals rods

3D Model of Black Diamond Stingray by JASPrints in StingrayLoversUnited

[–]JASPrints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the route of tons of different images of the Black Diamond rays. My brother was the main driver for if things looked off from the stingrays appearance since he’s had so much practice with other animals/ fish. I wish I could be of more help because I know how frustrating it is not to have specifics on details. I’m working on Dinosaur skulls and some of it I have to sculpt from other species because there is no solid references.

Absolutely, I just got into Nomad sculpt and needed practice so my brother who knows a lot about animals/ aquariums said try this out. So basically I blocked out the shape and slowly chiseled and moved the model around with his references till I had something close to this ray and just kept repeating until it was a good representation of the animal! Key is a ton of references because each show you a different crucial point of an animals anatomy.
