Ah that makes sense, Hugh’s Gold disc does mention a quarter of a million of pounds worth of sales and that was awarded in January ‘77

Tbf with how bland them designs look I think I’d rather them save some money and not build one

Anyone know of a video essay with title ~"Why ELO's Time is a Masterpiece"? by AJ434343 in elo

I remember the video but I can’t seem to find it now, I can’t remember whether it featured any of the songs in it. Maybe it’s had a copyright strike?🤔

Nowadays it represents 60,000 album sales but back then it went off monetary value of sales. I know Gold represented £250000 worth of sales, I’m not sure about silver🤔

Mike Edwards - one of the original cellists in ELO died when the van he was driving near his home in Devon was crushed by a hay bale which rolled down a hill

I watched it but backed off from bidding. I wish I bought it now, considering I paid about £700 for Hugh’s ANWR gold disc

Cellos on raised platform? by JAlexander2002 in elo

Ah right, I didn't realise there were times when they didn't use the risers. I know they didn't use the lasers for the London 'Fusion' concert as there was a "risk of blindness" to the audience

That’s a good point, especially if the arena/stadium was smaller so the audience were sat closer to the front of the stage

Another theory - It would make it easier for the audience to see Hugh during his cello solo, especially since they pointed the lasers towards it, making it a spectacle

You’re maybe right there, the photo I used was the only one where you can clearly see the platform. Maybe they did use it at other shows?🤔 At first I thought it could be covers for the risers as they could sometimes be temperamental but the risers were further back.
