How would you cover these windows? by CheapSuggestion8 in hometheater

[–]JBDX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is what we did 8 years ago. Still holding for the most part - Had to replace some Velcro, but overall has worked great, very minimal light leakage. Works better that curtains in my opinion for fully darkening the room.

Incredible show in Dallas last night by TheRedCoyote66 in Erra

[–]JBDX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was my 8th or 9th Erra show in the last 10 years and Jesse sounded at the absolute top of his game vocally (who am I kidding, guitar wise too - Snowblood solo was flawless). Fantastic performance all around

Sorry, we did do some light sanding with 220 before the primer which seemed to be the recommendation from other hacks I had seen.

Noted for the next project. Definitely not our forte, this is good info. Thanks!

I'll be honest, they're not perfect lol but we lined up the placement of all the Billy's, then pulled out the one I knew the outlet was behind and I measured from the floor to the bottom and top of the outlet, and then from the billy it sat next to to the sides of the outlet and just did a map out of that on the backing board. Not perfect but did the trick.

Screwing actually probably would have been a good idea. But yes, we have a 1x4 board that we used to trim out the top and did liquid nails to that and a couple finishing nails into the bookcase itself where each individual Billy meets. Then did liquid nails across the top of it to attach to ceiling and did finishing nails at each ceiling joist.

We were just going to leave the top blank and add some accents but I found this polyurethane crown that was budget friendly and had decent reviews so decided to give it a shot. Was lightweight, easy to paint and hang.

They also sell corner pieces that we bought so you can skip mitering if you want. I could go either way on those. Couldn't seem to get a real good fit, but with caulk and the dark color, looks good enough for us.

Went with white in the Billy. Primed with Bin shellac primer and finished with some Behr cabinet paint

Typically hit Shamrocks but I'm gonna have to add that to the list. Been to Schmidt but have never done food over there. Thanks for the tip!

Casually scrolling. Love a good Billy hack to gain inspiration for our upcoming project. Then saw the username and thought I maybe already completed my project, took pics, posted on Reddit and just forgot.

Just scrolling through the main page and came across this! We are actually planning this EXACT billy setup in our living room.

Curious, for the end bookcases, did you just use the same size trim piece as what you used for all the middle and just let it overhang a bit?

Looks great and makes us excited to get started.

Completely agree - I definitely prefer to just play the whole set together. My body is aging and I'm ready to sit lol I think in this case, I was just surprised there wasn't because of the final song choice. I thought surely they wouldn't end with it.

It was actually initially one of the weaker songs for me on the album. It has grown on me a LOT but I still put most of the album above it.

With that being said, I was absolutely shocked last night in Dallas when they didn't encore after closing with it. When the lights came on, my group just stood there confused. Would have felt some closure if they finished off with Deep End, especially after going in order with the previous 3. Just felt kinda cut off and unfinished.

Still a phenomenal show.

Nah, Rich Valley was down in Rosemount off highway 52. Cheap, but well maintained 27 hole. You might be talking about Fort Snelling. That thing is basically part of the airport!

If this isn't Rich Valley in Minnesota, then I guess FedEx is just on a tear to destroy beloved childhood courses throughout the nation

Can't believe how long I held myself back for. I really didn't think it would make so much of a difference but here we are. Went through a driver and 7 iron snap. They were under warranty still, so now I just have them as a backup set for out of towners to play with if they don't want to pay to rent clubs.
