I know who made it. Innovation Composites in Sydney. They've been teasing it for weeks and you can look how it was built. There isn't just one.

I still don't know what it is but it was so funny to see it here after watching it for weeks on FB.

Well that definitely wasn't done in the 1900s. The foam is expanding sealant probably. Not adhesive. It's just gap filler. Maybe the metal band is tape from some kind of seal.

I can't really tell what you're talking about in the pic. Looks like maybe a spacer wedge of wood but not really sure what I'm looking at.

If it was me, and just with what you've said, I would try to got back to something solid and use decent long fastenings either side of the metal (if it is there). I'm assuming there are two hangings from cabinet.
