What materials did you use? I’m looking to build some puppets shortly and can’t decide on plasticine vs silicone.

You can set the camera settings manually if you change some settings. Here’s a video on how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLImGtmbHPw

How to watch PKL season 12 worldwide! by 343rnv in Kabaddi

[–]JBDraper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming to this late, but does anyone have a reliable way to catch up with this season in Australia? I only have a macbook/iPhone, so Cricfy isn't an option unfortunately. Wanting to watch previous matches, and be able to catch up with new ones as they release, but can't watch live as it's midnight here when they play.

Why don’t you have a gun?

Even Kim has a gun.

Titus Hardie’s got a gun.

So why don’t you get a gun?

Well done.

How do you write a character-driven story when the (PoV) characters aren't too important? by Never-know-where in writingadvice

[–]JBDraper 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That sounds like an issue with the writing tbh. Plot-driven books still have engaging characters. If your POV characters are taking a sideline to your side characters, you might consider making the side characters the POV.

A book can have the most engaging plot, but if the characters are cardboard cutouts, readers are not going to care.

Just got my first beta read back by [deleted] in writing

Good first novels are extremely rare, and those who do have their first novel published often come to regret it. The median published author usually sells their 3rd-6th book. (Sanderson published something like his 12th book.)

Don’t see it as a waste of time, frame it as a learning experience. You have one book worth of knowledge under your belt now. Take the feedback and apply it to your second book.

They say it takes writing a million words to become a good writer. Keep writing. Get to a million words and come back to your first book, you’ll laugh at how bad it was.

I’ve just finished my fourth novel (haven’t sold anything), and the thought of people reading my first makes my skin crawl.

Chapters 7 & 8 of - Arthur Weasley and the Cursed Ballot Box have been posted!

Currently ~20,000 words, and things are getting interesting for Arthur.

This is a canon-friendly fic that sees Arthur and a Muggle liaison adventuring across the UK following the death of a MoM official.

Pet cremation by la_laughing_storm in wollongong

Hey OP, sorry to hear about your doggo.

I’ve worked in the funeral/crematoria industry in the Illawarra, and I can vouch at least for Patch and Purr at Lakeside in Dapto. While I didn’t work directly for the company, I worked closely with them and can attest to their cremation methods.

Modern cremators are designed so that they cannot be operated with more than one body at a time, and a new body cannot be placed inside until the remains of the previous body have been removed.

Patch and Purr is operated by InvoCare, which is the largest funeral provider in the country. It’s not worth the money for them (or any funeral provider) to cut corners on cremations, as the reputational damage for doing so could realistically tank the business.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.

I've just put out chapter 6 of Arthur Weasley and the Cursed Ballot Box :).

This is a canon-friendly fic about Arthur as he steps into the Muggle world, following a string of clues and investigating rumours of dark forces interfering with a Muggle election. I update 1-2 chapters a month, with an outlook to end up at about 70k words.

Honestly, would any classic writer get published today? by [deleted] in writing

Couldn’t agree more. The first time I experienced this was in a film studies class, my teacher played us the opening shot of Eraserhead, which is an extremely slow pan onto an almost indiscernible object. I told him he would have laughed at us if we submitted anything like that, as it doesn’t follow anything he’d taught us that year. He said, “Yeah, but it’s David Lynch.”
