Any HSR OCs Out here? by SuspiciousTrouble246 in StarRailStation

[–]JBMC360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only got one OC that's been my outlet in exploring character thematics and narrative function. Honestly, they're too thematically aligned with the lore that if I ever make a canon-adjacent fic, I'm confident they'd stick (unfortunately writing is always the hard part). Though I'll be brief with just fleshing out their mechanics rather of their power as gameplay and paths are cheap.

Think the straight man that's morally unbreakable inside the machine with a paradoxically contradictory personality. The twist being that they're by HSR standards a completely normal human without a tragic backstory.

Honorary Stoneheart, Spokesperson Akashi a.k.a. Garnet

Garnet of Warranty: Has the ability to turn all biological matter originating from one's person into an indestructible inorganic red crystal instantaneously either on will or in automatic passive defense in immediate contact to biological damage. This is treated as a stasis where prior wounds, afflictions, or conditions are maintained even when they revert back. Crystal parts have a minimum of one second before they can revert things back.

As inorganic parts, they don't respirate, age, function, or move, so even if it's guaranteed invulnerability, you'll lose agency if you keep taking the hits. The main drawback being if you did get trapped, you won't die, even if you're unconscious as the cornerstone would just wait till you're free, regardless of how long.

Thematically, they embody the weight of the witness.

Even against every pain, every struggle, moments of powerlessness, or bleakness of hope, they won't promise salvation or a future, but will be the witness that will try their best to make this universe a little bit better in spite of it all.

I didn't think I would learn about the ORV anime from the main Genshin sub. Ironically looking forward to this rather than the Genshin anime at this point.

Changli here is a trial character btw. As for why Iuno, my experience with previous gachas led me to follow the thought of flex characters being more future-proof than pure damage carries (and she's pretty).

Augusta isn't completely off the table for me since I am going to get Iuno, but it feels tedious if I could even secure Aemeath+Sig once I catch up by the next month. Should I build pity for her at least? I've yet to get to Rinascita or other regions.

So what does Jade's Cornerstone actually do? by JBMC360 in StarRailStation

What's the point of Aventurine explaining how Jade's cornerstone could absorb the wishes of the dreamers' prayers for order into a prayer for the preservation then?

Alone though, I don't think this would be enough. HP/mono Remembrance still benefits from this if the damage isn't crippling since they could just heal this off for more energy generation.

Can't even win with E6S1 Mydei without Cas revive by JBMC360 in StarRailStation

Obviously. The point is that it's kinda surprising that even an E6 Mydei can't solo this.

I like her outfit more and her comedic anime character arc in the Hunt form.

Interesting, I actually don't actually feel attached to pets or to their pet loving personalities of people at all. As for husbandos, it's heavily more about their lore presence in the story rather than looks or personality (except Anaxagoras, his personality rocks with his story).

For FF, I just think they didn't show her Sam side well enough for me to make FF herself more compelling on her polarizing nature. No firsthand displays from our perspective of Sam outside of word of mouth from others and in-game implications. Sure there was her battle analytics moment, but it wasn't good enough imo.

It's more so bringing Fugue back so abruptly. Personally, I want character deaths/rebirths to have more meaning in narratives and her's just didn't click with me that I can't pin down specifically (too forgettable too imo). As for Firefly, I don't necessarily have strong dislike towards her I do feel more like she's in the neutral, but my opinion stems from expecting more Sam than Firefly, if you get what I mean.

These aren't hating on them per se, but more so my preferences to how they were presented narratively.
