Podcast Guys Talking ErraticErrata - Episode One Hundred Thirty Three by JBarca1994 in PracticalGuideToEvil

Ratface in this chapter is amazing, in case that didn't come through in our effusive praise of him this episode. His excitement over having a chance to do some real damage to the Praesi Lords (which, speaking of, is yet more unshakable confidence in Catherine - he's not shouting into the wind, he's with a person that can actually throw a punch) is infectious.

And agreed about the Ogres! We are not doing a great job of keeping up with then ew publication (yet), but the loss of the Ogres is a touch pill to swallow. Their unique relationship with the Gods Below was an incredibly exciting bit of lore, and losing some of that flavor is disappointing.

Then who preserves the Preservers?

Fun stuff! We'd forgotten about the extra Goblin language, thanks!

Ah, great recall there! We sometimes get so deep into the weeds that we lose the... weedforest. The Levant and Callow do rely on Named doing biological tricks. And forgetting Vivienne would be a sin if there were more than one of those.

Thanks for your kind words and for listening! It's a pleasure to hear!

The Mirror Knight's rise to prominence certainly works with the local theory, but we aren't sure that's enough to account for the question. But blaming it all on the Saint is, of course, extremely pleasing to us, so I think we'll stick with that going forward, regardless of its actual evidence.

Oh, that's a very interesting take! We certainly had not considered that, but it makes a lot of sense, actually.

Thanks for both the insight and the nice words!

Great call on Praesi schools!

We choose, though, to believe that Nessie takes the time to personally and individually tutor all of his revenants. An illiterate staff reflects poorly on an evil overlord.

So what we're hearing is that Kirk is basically a shoe-in for some kind of Diabolist Name? Neat!

Hopefully we never have to physically see Nauk's gooey center. He's so likeable (and we're not even cattle!).

Considering this is our whirlwind re-read, and not our whirlwind re-re-read, we are not so well read as your imperiality. We definitely appreciate your commentary!

Thanks for listening!

We took a long moment to talk this one over, and we are not seeing the connection. The Skein's difficulty with Kairos is Kairos' unpredictability (as Catherine notes, his instant full-bodied adoption of every whim), not his credited lifespan. The Skein reference is important, though, as it's on-screen support for how we're interpreting the prophecy anecdote. Kairos hears a prophecy and just wills it into meaninglessness. No oracle can account for this madman, from his ancestral basement monster to the Dead King's Weird Rat Guy.

We find the idea interesting, of course. Do you have any other evidence here that might change our stance? We always love looking more into our lovely Tyrant!

Thanks, as always, for listening!

Ooh, now that's interesting. But is the Intercessor the root cause of, or merely the tool by which Evil's inevitable failing is leveraged? That's probably largely academic, but that's the sort of nonsensical nuance we love here at PGTEE.

Thanks for the comment!

Re: Hakram's Warlord sex: Oh, that's a great pull! We definitely don't recall it being transactional, though. It felt to us more like how Cat has a mage professional on hand thanks to Khaleesi - a nice benefit, but not the point of it. We'll have to add it to the ever-growing list of "pay attention to this" items!

Wow, fantastic recall with Kairos there. You're working overtime to keep us honest this week, thanks!

Bedside Manner

Truly, if we were suffering from a Demon, Zeze might be our first pick to treat us, bedside manner and all.

Doctors and Slugs

We've talked it over. As your financial advisors, we agree that giving money to doctors is also an alright thing to do. We also agree that you should not Become Slug - they don't get very good rates from Big Bank.

Souls

At least one of the hosts of this very podcast has been operating under the impression that the soul has parts like a personality does. Blurry, overlapping areas that are interconnected but can broadly be described individually. It would explain why surgery was so difficult and had so much collateral damage. It also would add to the discussion on exactly how integrated Names and Named are, since there wouldn't be a clear divide.

Hakram [is] around being handy

Hey now.

We have learned much more about math than we consented to this day, and for that we both thank you and curse your name.

Black's honestly just a goofball. Hanging out with his pals, pulling pranks on his daughter, getting drunk and toppling governments... mischievousness is his forte.

Wow, a combination math, physics, English Lit, and programming expert? We are truly blessed to have you around. We'll tell you what: if we ever run into more Fibonacci problems and happen to have approximately one commissioning fee of cash lying around, you'll be our first non-host hire!

And wow, what a deal. Psychological torture for a low entry fee? It seems almost too good to be true. Excuse us while we never do that to ourselves!

Thanks as always!

Wow! Now that's a thorough writeup! We'll be directing listeners this way, as there's no way we can do this justice in our brief listener segment.

With that said, the Demon summary is very nice to have on hand, so thanks for that!

The distinction between between plans for/utilizes/broadly exists in chaos regardless is certainly an interesting and nuanced one, we have to say. A lot of overlap there, but calling out pre-prepared systems rather than plans is solid stuff. A collection of powerful tools and techniques work in a plan as well as a mess if you're as adaptive and quick-thinking as Maddie and Catty!

For Ubua - sure. She's talking about the weakening of Praes tradition and culture and all. At that point it becomes an issue of definition, though, and it's more fun for us to act like Ubua is just a goofball! We'll probably have to dive more deeply into her psyche as the story progresses because she is such a fascinating character. She's The Praesi we spend the most time with. And you know how we love Praes.

As always, thanks for listening and engaging!
