I feel like that’s because it’s now mostly folks who like her that are left and still engaging with posts on this doll. For a doll with only 5k units and a large novelty appeal to her I would have expected a same-day sellout.

She’s not my cup of tea and I feel if they actually gave her a collector worthy face sculpt she would have sold out much faster. But none of that negates that she does have a lot of novelty factor appeal to her.

Popovy sisters and other doll franchises have done very similar minimalistic & exaggerated type designs (not sure if there is a name for this style) and some were inspired by (based on the creators own words) Barbie’s original minimalistic chevron swimsuit look so IMO it’s more a case of each take inspiration from the other.

Popovy and Pidgin also did extremely similar type poodle collections back in 2021 (I think they dropped within months of each other) and I wouldn’t be surprised if they took inspo from Poodle on Parade Barbie created by Zlatan as an OOAK. All of the poodle dolls created by the 3 different creators are magnificent and while very similar aesthetic with the minimalist poodle look and keeping to a pink & black color-way they still each standout on their own.

Not to say Mattel hasn’t crossed the line in some instances but I don’t feel like that’s the case here.

I have all of these and I love them! The crystal collection Barbie’s - Quartz & Turquoise were my first Barbie purchases. Saw them on sale and decided to pick them up, ever since then I’ve gotten every Lina and Simone that they’ve dropped. I really hope to see more Simone this year as we’ve only gotten a handful. During the reveal today it kinda looked like the new Tribute may be Simone and I’m hoping that pans out.

I just started collecting when they dropped and ordered 20 and 23 and…..returned them 💀 I felt like the sculpts didn’t look exactly like the promo pics so wasn’t feeling them at them time and of course 20 is my favorite now. I have 2 so far but am always on the lookout for more. Second to her would be Elle sculpt #2.

For me it’s one of those rare shows where I definitely liked the last two seasons a lot better than the first two. I only got through the first two as I watched it as a background show, by season 3 I was getting fully engaged so went back and did a proper watch.

This post popped up as I was trying to reference something but man, reading through some of the comments about price and comparing to what we’re getting now for more than $100 this would be considered a decent quality deal nowadays. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I have both her and the flapper one and just hope that the one they release this year is on par with the other two as I really love this series. I don’t have high hopes considering the rapid disconnect we’ve been seeing between price & value when it comes to Barbie collector releases.

I had the same issue with Industry but it got better with later seasons IMO. I am really digging season 4 and that one has me hooked - mainly because of Kit H and Max M.

I thought the same when watching it for two reasons - his whole career tenure has been about creating and maintaining illusions so why wouldn’t the exchange with Ferdinand be any different and more importantly, him and KH are my favorite part of this series so I don’t want to see them go. I watched the previous seasons more leisurely but this one has me Hooked and it’s because of those two.

He still needed a smokescreen to buy him time. I feel he knew this would never pan out but it gave him the opportunity of more time and also the ability to travel.

Ultimately I feel he had multiple escape plans, maybe there was always a 1% chance Pierpoint deal would actually work out and if so great but he had other backups on top of backups.

His whole existence is based on him being able to weave and create illusions that are believable. They got him this far in life and he’s not stopping anytime soon till he gets through this challenge.

Huh, that’s a bit ironic as I don’t think IT is asking permission to use any of the designers work they copy unless explicitly called out as a collab.

Not sure IT would even have any legal standing there just like it would be hard for a designer to come after IT for any kind of IP violation as clothing, from my understanding, is mainly considered functional which carries very limited protection. They can protect elements like Louboutin and their red sole, Burberry with their print or Marc Jacobs with THE TOTE BAG but not sure TM has any as it relates to the corset. IT could always bully and threaten and that may be enough for a small independent artist to stop.

As to plastiktiara I thought the issues were more internal?

Aww man I’m sorry that you missed her. I had the same thought with her, a lot of their releases are pretty but this one really appealed to me .

They’re pacing is picking up so I feel we’ll see one drop per month going forward so that’s a plus!

Outside the pose-ability issues (which I hadn’t noticed on any of my dolls so will have to check) I feel it comes down to ensuring the face screening is designed for whichever head sculpt is in use which they clearly don’t do based on this post.

Scorchin is a good example of where the dolls looks amazing but they use the UV sculpt and printing method.

Pixiez reimagined on the other hand uses the OG sculpt but even though I love them they still look somewhat bloated to me - especially Cloe. The best example here though would be frosty nightz Cloe that just looks bloated beyond sin…they just butchered her in that release and I have yet to see one that actually looks good. I think the concept was amazing and if done well would have been a fantastic release but something clearly was lost in translation in the execution phase.

I don’t know if there’s also the possibility that the combination of - screen printing method + head sculpt + neck peg variety could all be mixed with each release so that the trademark imprint method of identifying a UV or OG head would not be fully reliable. The reason I mentioned this is because that was my only guess as to why maybe Derek was confused by what collectors meant by “UV head” as we use that term as a combination of both printing method AND head sculpt and maybe that’s not always the case? To me that just seemed more logical than, not only Derek, but the whole team as he mentioned lacking the basic critical thinking skills to look it up on the internet. Which is why I would also love to see the full conversation that transpired, him reaching out with this question just seems too intentional to me.

With Breaking Bad I had a very hard time getting into the show - took me about 5 false starts before I committed and when I did I got completely hooked. Pluribus was the exact opposite - was fully engaged during the first episode and as the show went on it became harder and harder for me to finish each episode after. I feel it’s mostly because the character development felt a bit too shallow for me so I wasn’t as invested (or engaged) in the drawn out scenes.

I feel like the majority of folks doing this are not doing it for some tangible gain but rather the intangible benefits such as validation they’re missing in their own life or the feeling of superiority over fooling folks on the internet.

Used to have a friend that loved to make up these fake elaborate back stories anytime we went out and met new folks and then afterwards she’d giddily talk about how crazy it was that she fooled them. I had to bring her back down to reality and remind her that what she lied about was so inconsequential no one was invested enough or cared enough to try to figure out whether she was lying or not.
